Hotel Bambito By Faranda Boutique, a member of Radisson Individuals, hotel in Volcán

This eco-retreat located in Panama’s Volcán Barú National Park features trout ponds, an indoor swimming pool and a spa. It offers rustic rooms and a free American breakfast.

Such a beautiful property and a wonderful, spacious room with high ceilings, lots of storage and gorgeous wood floor and trim. The bed was very comfortable, and the staff members were very kind and patient as we did not speak Spanish, except for a couple of words. The landscaping and views outside were wonderful. Walking around is a joy. I saw a Coati in the upper level garden coming out of the bamboo Grove. He was large and handsome, but ran away, of course, after seeing me.

The Guest Suites at Manana Madera, hotel in Volcán

Mañana Madera Coffee Estate is located in the hills above Boquete, overlooking Volcan Baru. Our luxury suites offer amazing views of surrounding mountains and world-class comfort.

We just spent 4 wonderful days at this B&B. Randy and Kat have created the ideal getaway spot with casitas tucked into a lush botanical garden that includes winding paths and panoramic views. Sunrise each morning on the ranchito deck drinking coffee fresh roasted from Randy’s coffee plantation. Then a delicious breakfast delivered to the casita and a chat with Randy about our plans for the day. At night, sipping a glass of wine out on the deck under the starry sky with the highlight seeing the Southern Cross for the first time. Randy offered to shuttle us back and forth to town so we were able to easily book tours and restaurant reservations. During our daily rides, we talked about life in Panama, with Randy sharing stories about his life as an ex-pat and B & B owner. He has such a positive spirit and a great sense of humor. We also met his lovely wife, Kat. Our thanks to both of them for one of the most relaxing getaways we’ve ever had.

We traveled in Jan therefore the weather was perfect. Nature is amazing and the temperature as well. The city of Volcan services the needs of the habitats. Streets are wide and new, clean, no traffic. Restaurants close at 7pm. Choices are v limited. Very. Thought Volcan is just an hour’s drive from Boquette, the layout was completely different. Again, the nature pays-off. And the drive to Davide is very comfortable and short.

The place is extremely spread out, it reminded me of the United States - the distances are hard to walk and there is very little activity in town (town being the main road and and a few fenced areas, really). When I visited, all the public hiking trails were closed, so I cannot judge the qualities of the forest too profoundly. I can say, however, that Volcán is not worth the hassle from my point of view.

Volcan is more of a rural community , space out in the business direct, if you drive around and look it is a very interesting town, the different style home drew my attention, Most homes are very colorful with the generous use of flowers and flowering shrubs. The lack of zoning control could be a problem, as animals and hens were to be found here and there in the resident area, but the live and let live, was wonderful. It tended to be windy city by times, but mostly sunny.
