Everything.. we were only planning on staying for 7 days. Less then an hour being here we changed our plans for the rest of our stay in Panama and stayed here for 11 day. We travel many times per year around the world and I admit this location, property, staff and amenities are 10 / 10 exceptional. The staff upgraded us to a complete house. It was aprox 400 sq/ft equipped fully with full kitchen, king size bed, air conditioning and patio overlooking the ocean. Largest houses in the area and very clean. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

The room was clean and there was a nice terrace to chill in the evening. Shared kitchen was well equipped and also clean. There is a bar underneath the accommodation if you want to have a beer after a trip. Noise from the bar wasn't any problem for our sleep.

Santa Catalina is an interesting place.
Santa Catalina is an interesting place. If I were younger and a surfer, it might be awesome. At this stage it feels like it is still the frontier, the “wild west” of Panama. It is obviously super popular with the crunchy backpacker and surfer crowd, and judging by the development taking place (golf course down the road), it will soon be popular with the expats and gringos as well.

Good place to have a day trip to Coiba, we did an excellent snorkelling tour with Watching Dolphins.
Playa Estero is very pleasant for a lazy afternoon ( but better with a car!).
Some pleasant restaurants in the village : We liked lodge bar and restaurant, very good and friendly.
Very disappointed by Los Penguinos, beautiful view and nice for a drink, but very very very long service.
There is an ATM near the Pharmacia and supermarket.

I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs.
I’ve been to Santa Catalina about 9x in the last 15 yrs. It’s clearly a place I enjoy. I’m there for the diving. If you go there to dive you should visit Isla Coiba … it’s world class. Of course you also have surfing, kayaking, fishing, walking on the beach or just relaxing at your hotel pool. Highly recommend getting out and enjoying one of the many restaurants. I also really like the people, who I find friendly and hard working. Hangout by the beach at sunset and you’ll find locals & tourist playing volleyball or just sitting over a cold beer enjoying the view.

Santa Catalina is quiet surf town.
Santa Catalina is quiet surf town. During the day, most of the restaurants were closed. There are two beaches, the nicer one is Estero beach, which is good place to surf, even for the beginners. You can do snorkling trips, diving, surf or kayaking to the Santa Catalina island, where the beach was great and water clear.

Santa Catalina is an extremely nice surfer town!
Santa Catalina is an extremely nice surfer town! It is definitely one of my favourite spots in Panama in general! It is more remote so if you are a solo traveler I would suggest staying in a social hostel.
The people are friendly and it is a really nice town as a beginning surfer or advanced.
And you should do the coiba tour!!! It is so beautifull, i have no regrets paying a little more for a tour like this.

One of the top places I've been to for scuba diving, I've been there a few times and I've seen whale sharks, bull sharks, white tip sharks, giant oceanic rays, cownose rays, eels, sea turtles, sea horses, frogfish, etc.
Loved eating in Hotel Iguanito, Ai Mamita (in Villa Coco Hotel), and for breakfast: Café Panachocolat and Sugar Mamas.
Not super easy to get around, you basically need a shuttle or car to go through the bumpy road. Once there, it's a bit hilly for the average walker/bike rider. If you stay in the intersection where all the dive centers are located, and you're there to scuba dive, then you're walking distance from everything you need.
I recommend staying at Coiba House during your stop in Santa Catalina. It’s located right in front of the beach with direct private access. Stunning sunsets from the hammocks, and super quiet nights during which you’ll only hear the relaxing sound of the waves.
Super clean rooms and shared bathroom.
On top of that, Darcy is an amazing guest and human being, and it was a pleasure meeting his lovely and kind family.
I’ll miss this place for sure. Gracias Darcy i familia!
We had an amazing time at The Hostal Rolo.
Everything is done for you to feel relaxed.
Amazing staff, always happy to help.
We had a room with private bathroom. The room was large and clean.
The garden is huge and very pleasant.
Well equiped kitchen
We also booked a tour to Coiba with them. Good price.
The hotel is on the beach and you can go to watch sunset every night.
We’ll come back!
Located on the perimeter of the town, it was an ideal location for access to the mini markets, restaurants, dive shops, and beach. The staff was beyond exceptional...their charisma and willingness to go far out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect has never been matched. I’m amazed with the level of “customer obsession” present...I’ll be back to Santa Catalina for this reason alone!
Lovely hotel with a nice outside area to enjoy and just chill.
Small pool but really nice. The beach just near the hotel has a lot of rocks, so not properly for swimming.\
Breakfast was simple( eggs, fruits and pancakes/ bread) but really tasty!
Would recommend this place if you want to spend a nice and calm weekend close to the nature.
Leo and Daniel, the host are really welcoming and chill!! They love surfing if you want good advice
Everything is super clean, someone come every morning wash the private bathroom in the room and the comon space !
It s close from the beach and restaurant etc
You will wanna stay there its sure, everybody stay longer in this place
An excellent gateway in eco-friendly lodge in the middle of the jungle but still close enough even by foot to the main village, restaurants and the beach. Variety of tours are available: diving, snorkelling, horse riding, surfing.
The bungalows are an art of architecture and nature friendliness.
Nice hotel complex with rooms around the pool, small table/chairs and hammock in front of the room/on terrasse. Great location with supermarket and restaurants nearby, yet quiet at night. Daily room service/removal of garbage. Nice to have a shower with warm water. Staff was friendly.
Maira and her husband are from Milan Italy and have been running this boutique hotel and pizza place for ten years. They really go out of their way to give you a fantastic experience. It was my wife’s birthday and she made sure to get a delicious cheesecake for her.
very nicely located hotel, one of its kind in an area of small hostels. excellent service from the staff and quick to solve any minor inconveniences. food was DELICIOUS, highly recommend the seafood. overall very nice place with good amenities and comfort.
Really friendly & helpful Team. Perfect hostel stay, close to beach, all staff warm, welcoming, polite and helpful. very clean, nice quiet rooms always cool and with very comfy beds. Free breakfast is amazing really great, I loved that.
The location is spot on! Exactly where u want to be when you are in Santa Catalina. The staff is really nice and always trying to help. Renting surfboards is cheap (mostly softtops) and you walk to the beach really easily.
Very nice located just next to a beautiful beach :-)
A little outside of town. The rooms are nice and have everything you need. Nice and kind staff who is working at the hotel. They have delicious food at the restaurant.
- very elegant place, nicest beach hotel I have been to
- large room with well structured outside shower
- very good restaurant
- nice outside area around our cabin
- superb pool with comfortable sun beds
It was good but I walked about 20 mins to get there because I couldn’t catch a ride they are still working on the upgrades for this place but it was nice and next to the beach, good and affordable food
Great experience. This is the best hotel in Santa Catalina Veraguas. It has a very good balance between confort and ecological ambience. The team make you feel at home.
Food was nice and was very clean. Its in the middle of the town, close to all scuba diving centers and other nice restaurants for the type of town Santa Catalina is.
