I have stayed at FDH for more than 25 years. The staff are excellent and some have been there for many years. Proof of good working conditions and management. The whole Covid period the FDH went through a proper renovation of all rooms and bathrooms. So today the hotel is in new excellent condition. Also the two inner court yards and pool were renovated.

The food in the Turkish restaurant just below the hotel was very good.

Nizwa is a lovely city with lots to see however it is also central to many other towns and sights within easy drives. The highlight for me is the Friday goat market and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Nizwa.

Nizwa is a beautiful little town you need to stop by if you are venturing around in Oman. The Nizwa fort is a must. I learned a lot about the country and Nizwa by walking around and seeing the exhibition and everything else. Also in Nizwa, you have a small and cute souq. I found the prices in Nizwa lower than in Muscat, especially the saffron. If you plan on going to Muscat after Nizwa, I would also recommend buying a scarf there. I also loved the fruit market where I got to taste Halwa in different styles (something I wouldn't have dared try at a restaurant) and just the smells and atmosphere were incredible.

True old walled city unlike any other in the Gulf.
True old walled city unlike any other in the Gulf. Citadel is worth it and well preserved. Old souks are also real. It is a nice hub to visit the area and fort around it in Hamra, Bahla and even to go to Jabal Akhdar. strongly recommend one of the charming hotels inside the old city. Problem with Niza (like much of Oman) is that outside of nature activities, there is not much to do. no good restaurants, festivals, concerts, or places to go out to.

Very nice city, souq, castle, fort and mosque all close one to each other, so really convenient to visit them together. A lot of restaurants, bars and amenities. Qaboos mosque 10mins far from city center, it needs a car to be reached.

people ale super nice. they were talking to us, waving, asking if we are happy here and wishing us good stay. beautiful old town, gorgeous old buildings. amazing and not so priced food. in central souq prices are high, but if you go to eastern souq you can meet nice people and buy good things in great prices! there’s drinkable water on the streets for free. lots of plants in whole city. unlike many big cities, Nizwa is very walkable, you don’t need a car or taxi to explore it. highly recommended:)

Nizwa is a small yet beautiful town located at an hour and a half drive from Muscat. Drive from Muscat to Nizwa and back has breathtaking views especially during winters and people are friendly.
Trip to Nizwa Souq is a must and drive around the city is enjoyable too. Souq offers the opportunity to experience the culture and heritage of Oman and Antique shops are amazing.
For those going to Jebel Akhdar, its just 35 - 40 kms from Nizwa, depending on which part of the town you are in.
It can be just a day trip for those travelling from Muscat or a weekend retreat if someone is looking for a small break.
Overall really worth a visit.
Close to Nizwa old center, 15 minute walk by a quite street with taylor shop and mosques. It's a beautiful big omanite home with 4 rooms for guest a quite garden with a warm swimming pool. You can find private parking spaces ( we have a big suv and we park without problem) a big kitchen if you want to have your dinner by yourself and a large sofa area to relax. The owner is kind and send you all you need by wathapp before arrive and give you info about sorronding areas. Stay here far from Niwza traffic in a silent green area.
Oman is opening up to tourist and this is one of the great initiatives to revitalize the city’s old, traditional houses and incorporate them into the tourism industry. Beautifully restored and very conveniently place, quite literally right in the center of the old town one can walk to Nizwa fortress or the souq in less than time that it would take to Google directions.
Note: Streets can be narrow so don’t drive in there unless you know what you’re doing.
Location is perfect. The hotel is within few minutes (by car) from every thing.
Every thing was clean all the time . Staff was chearful and very helpful.
Quiet rooms. Comfort beds.
Safe.
In breakfast, the croissants were freshly baked and they were baked by its original way.
Cafe latte was wonderful each time.
Pool was safe for my child. Water was clean.
If i will go again to Nizwa, it will be my choice again.
This was truly a special find for us. So much so that we plan to return to Oman next July and to Nizwa and to the Antique Inn. This a wonderful place to stay in the old part of Nizwa. Our room was just beside the swimming pool and in July (low season), we had it virtually to ourselves.
Rooms were clean and well appointed - the AC was very welcome. I really did like this Inn.
The Omani guesthouse is perfectly located in the old city center in Nizwa (parking spot at 500m in the big parking in front of the city gate). Staff is friendly and helpful, especially the owner took the time to give us some information of the city. The building with it's garden and terraces is very nice and has great potential. The bedroom was sufficient for one night.
Very comfortable and clean rooms with great air flow - I prefer the window and fan. Superb location - just 5-10 min walking to Souq Nizwa. And Hossein and Saadiq, the staff, really help you feel comfortable and relaxed. Importantly, as it is missing in many accommodations in Oman, there is a sitting area outside to meet other guests over coffee and/or breakfast.
The place are very comfortable and in the heart of nizwa old market colse to castle
Very clean and had views from the window incredible
For us was the best choice.one of the best places on my trip to Oman .offering also very nice privet tour on the mountain with local wishes know about the real history of the area
It was very nice stay. The hotel was neat and clean.

The food in the Turkish restaurant just below the hotel was very good.
Cosy stay, the property looks very authentic, we had a comfortable room and a nice local breakfast served in the green hotel patio. Location is great, very central, only few minutes walk from the Nizwa fort and souq. We arrived late at 11pm which was accommodated by the friendly hotel team.
I picked this apartment, near the main highway, so that I can go to Salalah / Muscat easily. The location is good w.r.t. highway but if you have to take dinner, it is isolated. The room was okay. We were 3 adults and the hotel offered the 3rd bed with mattress, which was comfortable.
Perfect location, very well maintained, clean and well equipped.
Ideal for families looking for a perfect getaway.
The pool is well maintained.
Highly recommend this place to stay if planning to visit Jebel shams and Jebel akhdar and places near Nizwa.
Bustan Inn follows traditional Omani architecture of the center of Nizwa, and great care was taken to preserve existing date palms during renovation. With adequate lighting it provides a charming piece of architecture in the town center.
-Very centrally located hotel in Nizwa with great access to the fort, mosque and souq.
-Room is outfit very well - good bathroom, nice kitchen area, multiple sitting options
-Can walk up to the roof for a view over old Nizwa
On site parking available and easy access to Nizwa Souq (about 8 min walk). There is an authentic Omani low seating area in the room, which is very cute. Breakfast under the palm tree terrace.
great location in the old town of Nizwa beside the famous Nizwa Fort.
Beautiful renovated old mud houses. A true antique inn.
Enjoyed the Omani traditional breakfast with the Fort view.
Nice historic rooms in the old city of nizwa. Gives you an nice impression of the old houses. Very close to the Fort and souk. The owners welcome you with Omani coffee and dates.
the location was perfects, near to nizwa souq and fort. it takes like 10 minutes walking to these places. the wi-fi’s connection was 10/10. the hot water was available 7/24.
