What a fantastic little motel located in the centre of town run by a wonderful older couple who treated us like family . The room was super clean and very well appointed . Breakfast was supplied in the old fashioned way on a tray to your room , so good to see old fashioned service these days , the way it should be and the room rates were excellent , Highly recommend this motel .

Westport is a lovely funky little town with a museum and great spots to eat and meander about. If you're going to Westport - be sure to take in Cape Foul Wind - beautiful walkways and as true a rough rugged West Coast experience as you will get.

Westport has a lot to offer and one day was not enough.

Westport has a lot to offer and one day was not enough. There is really a lot to do and see and explore in this area. We went to Denniston Mine, walked on the Kawatiri trail by the harbor, the seal colony and the lighthouse. Tauranga Bay and the estuaries are worth exploring.

Westport has some lovely estuary walks where you can see herons, weka and stilts. There are many friendly cafes with good food. The prices everywhere are reasonable. You can do trips to see a lighthouse, seals, beaches. It is bike friendly. You can bike to all of these on a cycle path. Further afield Denniston and Coalbrookdale have 1 hour historic walks. Once Coal Town reopens in 2024 it will again have a museum.

Wonderful and friendly hosts. Insightful conversations on the local history. Gave us some good gardening tips and shared their delicious tomatoes. In the morning, the roads to and from Westport was closed due to flooding. Our hosts made us comfortable and offered another night of accommodation if the roads didn’t open. They baked us the most delicious scones we’ve ever eaten and they let us use the dining room to work. A memorable experience!

Had an absolute fantastic stay at Bazil's. Didn't intend to go as far north as Westport, but due to lack of lodging elsewhere we ended up in Westport at Bazil's... FANTASTIC!!! Would book there again for sure. Funky and fun property. Laid back atmosphere. Eclectic but clean and tidy. Will take advantage of surf lessons next time. Definitely hit up Whanake Gallery & Espresso Bar and The West Coast Pie Company... both Stellar!

A lovely place to stay with a very lovely host. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, and in a nice quiet location just outside of Westport. The pub next door had excellent food just a 1 minute walk away, and the breakfast offered was all you can eat, with homemade bread, preserves, tea, coffee, milo, fruit, cereal - very tasty. Would be where I stayed again if I headed back to Westport.

What a dump. We booked about 6 weeks prior, flew from Auckland to Nelson, hired a car and drove to Westport to find the motel office locked. The phone wasn't answered and another guest told us the managers had gone to Auckland. So there we are, tired, totally wild, with no accommodation at 5pm, getting dark! Luckily another motel came to our rescue. Don't even consider this shocker.

The property was well positioned to explore the lighthouse and seal colony. It was easy to drive around the area and the walking track from Westport passed by. If you walked that track you reached the lighthouse and the seal colony. A simple complimentary breakfast was served in a designated breakfast room. The local pub is a short walk away and offers a good menu and friendly service.

The owner (Chris) is such a lovely and hospitable person! She makes you feel right at home. The location is excellent (centrally located in Westport) and I had my own little space with a separate bedroom, bathroom and toilet! Chris shared good tips about great hikes and restaurants. I enjoyed my stay there very much!

Great location for my stay in Westport. Down watching son play rugby - so being a stones throw away from the main Buller ground was great. Nice comfortable bed and plenty of room in the lounge area. Really impressed by the shower as well.
