The lodge was a perfect setting for our stay, we fortunately had pretty awesome weather so could make good use of the lovely outdoor decks. Our apartment was clean and well set up. Fiona, our host, was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The lodge itself is just a short walk from Tryphena Bay, with an easy visit to the pub, cafe and local store.

The cottage is accurately named as it does indeed have an awesome view. The owner met us as we arrived and provided a nice orientation. She was upfront that it's not five-star accommodation, but we did not expect that in a place that is really off the grid (which is part of the charm). The cottage is nicely located within easy walking distance of a sundries store/cafe and - nice surprise - has very good wifi. You can spend a lot of time on the wrap-around deck looking our over and through the trees to the bay, the sunset is gorgeous and this is a wonderful place to decompress for a few days.
The Bungalow offers accommodations in Great Barrier Island, 1.3 miles from Medlands Beach. This property offers access to a balcony and free private parking.

Great to stay in the area, has a couple of beaches, but very safe for families. You'll find the shops there and the famous Irish Pub which is always great for entertainment. I would recommend that you rent a car or one of the electric motubikes to get around the island, which is much bigger than you might think. We did some walking in the area, with great lookouts towards Coromandel. Very enjoyable.
