The place was really nice. The dorms were close to everything like kitchen, game room and bathroom.
The kitchen was not the biggest but defently enough for the amount of people that were using it.

My daughter met me in Auckland from California and I came from Texas. Barbara and Stu were so sweet, kind and friendly. The breakfast room has a beautiful rectangle table I wanted to take home with me. The breakfast was amazing! Crispy meaty bacon, tasty sausage and the eggs were perfectly round. Thanks again for everything!

Thames is a quiet town with quite a few coffee shops and a good variety of stores to browse. The supermarket (Pack & Save) was close to where we were staying. There are several locations close to Thames that are worth a visit The Gold mine just north of town Cathedral beach and the hot water beach are worth the time to check out. A scenic drive up to Coramandel town is interesting. Just be careful on the narrow sea side road. Enjoy

Didnt know which cafe to choose, but this one had a lot of people in it, so we chose this one.Hot chocolate cafe. The big breakfast and the pancakes were delicious. Quaint, busy little township, just caught the tail end of the market. We stumbled on another cafe further up, which sold this devine louise cake & caramel wheaty slice. Yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Nakontong Thai restaurant for dinner too.

Shared bathroom and toilet wasn't good.
Shared bathroom and toilet wasn't good. Luckily for me there was only one other guest a female but that was awkward as we both wanted to shower at the same time. Lucky for both of us there were not 3 couples staying at the same time.

The Coastal walkway is a good walk. Old town worth a visit. Lots of good places to eat in town and some good shops and cafes. Lots of walks up the Kauaeranga river Valley in the Cormandel Forest Park.
Good base for surrounding areas, we did full circuit of Carmandel from here. Also enjoyed Gold mines tour at Waihi and walks on the Whatawheta river gorge

The Thames Goldmine Experience was awesome.
The Thames Goldmine Experience was awesome. It is run by volunteers that are passionate about keeping the history alive. We've been to several mine attractions, but this is the only one that has original equipment that actually runs for demonstration.
Chartre Manor was for us an ideal place to stay. We were warmly greeted by Anna-Marie and she went over and above to supply us with breakfast food, snacks, drinks, which we highly appreciated. The location on a hill overlooking the land and the water was great. There were sheep and rabbits in the field, which along with the many birds gave a relaxing atmosphere. The cottage is very quiet and spacious. Thames has several good restaurants. We would definitely stay here again when we visit New Zealand.
We liked EVERYTHING about this B&B. It's a great location to explore the Coromandel and surrounding areas. The house is a fantastic size and just for you, no other guests. The hot tub has a stunning view over the nearby beach and bay and the kitchen is so wonderfully packed with everything you need. I wish we would have planned an extra night here just to rest up more as it was the perfect place for reading a book and relaxing a while as part of a big denture driving round New Zealand.
A nice holiday park with plenty to do within the park and nearby. A nice river to swim in, some trails, games like table tennis, very friendly and helpful staff, and seemingly booked by overall good people. I ended up adding another night as I grew comfortable and really established myself into New Zealand, as this was my second spot I stayed during my trip. The kitchen was also pretty nice and well equipped.
Gorgeous views from the top of a hill over Thames, with a panoramic view from windows on three sides of the accomodation. Very clean with super comfortable beds, and very friendly hosts. Siegfried makes the best bread in the Southern Hemisphere and possibly the north! The cooked breakfast is excellent. I’ll stay here each time I am in Thames. Vielen Dank für eine wundervolle Erfahrung!
We just spent one night at the motel to escape cyclone Gabrielle so we didn’t get to enjoy the pool or other facilities. But we appreciated the super friendly welcome by the staff and the clean and comfortable room. The location is great to explore Thames and the area. The kitchenette has everything needed to prepare breakfast or small meals. Beds were comfortable and felt fairly new.
Sunset hotel is a diamond in the rough we didn't expect much on Booking but the staff were friendly and helpful and the accommodation was spacious clean and very accomodating right on the beach and would highly recommend to other travelers
Helena at reception was very friendly, helpful and accommodating with our late check in. The caravan was clean, quiet and comfortable. Showers were clean and hot. Very nice campsite nestled in the hills of Thames.
A good central location on the main road into Thames. Just walking distance to the city center.
The owner was very pleasant and welcoming.
Excellent parking at the unit door.
Good aircon.
The elderly couple at the front desk were amazing. They really made our stay a lot of fun. Also the motel had a friendly cat who wanted to hang out so I rate this place really high.
THE APARTMENT WAS LARGER THAN I EXPECTED, WHICH WAS A BONUS.
I LOVED THAT WE HAD SEPARATE BEDROOMS.
TUSCANY ON THAMES HAD A LOVELY WELCOMING FEELING, WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN :)
Breakfast was really good and plentiful. The welcome drink was an unexpected bonus and the host was very informative about the history of the town and the hotel.
