The staff was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. That would make sure that we have everything we need. The food was very nice and the prices are extremely reasonable. We ended up eating there a few times during our stay because of this. You can have typical Nepali or Indian dishes or choose a more European dish like pasta or pizza.
The rooms are very cozy and typical of bhaktapur city. It is nice to feel like you are part of the city instead of staying somewhere that is obviously a hotel build for tourists.
We had hot water everyday.
Absolutely nothing to say. A very very nice stay and we will definitely come back !

I have been traveling a lot in my life, but I never saw such a beautiful city. Eventhough, the dramatical earthquake , all the buildings and temples have been fixed with the old materiel.
Walking by night in Bhaktapur in those small street is like to be in the middle age. Bhaktapur is a travel through the time.

Nice place to stay for a couple of hours.
Nice place to stay for a couple of hours. If someone like spiritual places, definitely the right location. A lot of places are still under construction, since the earthquake, so the 55th window palace was closed.

Bhaktapur is still recovering from the 2015 earthquake which created havoc with the local historic buildings. However, much has been done though. The place is doing it's best to get back into a reasonable position however COVID has taken its toll on the local industry and tourist venues (small shops and traders as well as the restaurants and hotels - a large number of which were closed when I visited.)
I have visited many times and it still retains a special charm - photographic opportunities are always present, whether the buildings, the people or the views of the mountains - still is a magical place.
Oh, (like other places in Nepal) the people are so friendly - they stop and ask if you need help but just want to be helpful, with no pushy sales pitch or offering of a ride to other local attractions.

The best part is always its food. I just can't stop myself from eating Newari khaja set( Newari cultural food) and juju dhau ( special curd ) . Also, this time they had the facility of boating in Siddha Pokhari and it was a lot of fun paddling oneself.

One of the best places of Kathmandu.
One of the best places of Kathmandu. You will definitely want to stay longer than your original intend. We extended our stay there for 2 extra nights (4 nights in total) People are friendly, the old city is very beautiful. (If you intend to stay more than 1 night, be careful to ask to write down your passport number on your entrance ticket to the old city, otherwise you will have to pay the entrance multiple times..)

A number of attractions in old town well worth seeing.
A number of attractions in old town well worth seeing. Some earthquake damage has spoilt a few though. Some restaurants overpriced and over rated in certain guides. Typical of many places all over the world though. Short walks outside old town worth the effort. Out passed Ram Ghat to hill top gives good view of Himalayas, for instance and chance to see more local people untouched by tourism.
It was such a pleasure staying in this hotel. The owner are very kind and helpful, the room cozy and nice (the mountainview is amazing!) and the location great. We loved staying in the village. We had the chance to get to know the Nepal village life. We have seen how the traditional masks were made and came in contact with a lot of locals. A few shops are inside this little city so we could buy everything we needed and we walked just two minutes to a nice temple. From Changu it took us around 20 minutes by bus until we were in Bhaktapur.
The guest house was located right at the Dattatreya Square, in a very old building, with all the charms that come with the old city of Bhaktapur. It was always easy to find our way home.
Charming room with old windows and cross beams, we were so happy to stay in a traditional Nepalese building.
The host was very hospitable, taking your order for food and drinks at at the front desk.
Breakfast, coffee, masala tea, black tea, lunch items were great.
They even did a wash for us with no charge, above and beyond.
This guest house is in a fantastic location! It is right between Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Pottery Square- you can walk to many attractions and it is very easy to find. There is also a very nice café right across the road that serves very good coffee and has the absolute sweetest baristas! The room and attached bathroom was very clean and comfortable. There are plenty of outlets, there is water in the room, and the hot water in the shower works well. I would recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Bhaktapur!
The staff at the hotel were exceedingly helpful and kind, ensuring our stay was truly comfortable. Furthermore, the hotel's location is ideal, situated right in the heart of Bhaktapur Durbar Square. As it is converted from a historic building, the hotel offers an authentic Nepali charm with intricate carved wooden frames, while still providing modern amenities such as air conditioning, ensuring a delightful and comfortable stay.
- easily the best accommodation of our trip
- stunning location with beautiful views from our room
- very friendly, attentive and helpful staff
- very quiet (although that might be different when the hotel is fully booked)
- very nice room with large, comfy beds. Lots of space for our stuff.
- brilliant restaurant with excellent Italian and very good Nepalese cuisine
- excellent breakfast with a huge selection
Thagu Chhen was a great mix of traditional and modern architecture and far more reasonably priced than some of the other "traditional" style hotels. The facilities were good and the room comfortable but the best part was definitely the view out over the old capital of Bhaktapur. The hotel was only a 5 minute walk from all the beautiful world heritage sights on offer, which the staff were happy to recommend.
The room is very big and I had actually my first hot shower since a while being in Nepal.
The staff is so friendly and would try to do everything to make you comfortable.
After a long hike they even brought me delicious food I had never tasted before so that I could try it.
Don't hesitate stay a couple of nights in Bhaktapur. Beautiful place and a nice hotel.
I stayed 2 nights with a friend at this wonderful hotel and it was great!
The room is cosy, the shower is hot, the staff is incredibly nice and welcoming and the breakfast in the morning on the rooftop was so delicious and enjoyable!
The hotel is also really well located (one street from Durbar Square), in a quiet street.
Strongly recommend!
The staff were so incredibly warm and friendly. We were gifted a bowl, a Bhaktapur’s special king curd yogurt on our arrival. So tasty! I couldn’t ask for a better location. We had an Awesome view of the square at our window. A hot Water tea service was available just down the hall for early morning.
Nice property with basic rooms right on Durbar Square in Bhaktapur. Walk out the door straight into the square. Very friendly staff, accommodating and pleasant. Small restaurant within the hotel itself and some beverage supplies
The staff is super helpful and honest. They recommend you the best places and do not try to take money from you. The hotel is also very clean and in a good location. The breakfast was very delicious aswell. Definetly recommend!
Very clean, beautiful rooms. The bathroom and shower were very nice. The hotel is in a great location. Breakfast is delicious and has a wonderful view. The staff is also extremely helpful.
At the main location and the food they serve had a authentic taste of bhaktapur with the rooftop restaurant where you can watch the whole square. Definitely a must visit place
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. We loved that the hotel looks over Durbar square. The staff were super friendly and the rooms were very comfortable. Thank you!
Perfect location, literally 2 minutes walking from Durbar Square. Amazing, helpful staff. Clean, good equipped room. When in Bhaktapur that's the place to stay.
