Very welcoming. Personable staff that greeted us with a drink on the house. Food in the restaurant was delicious, nutritious and high quality. The hotel had different family living rooms to relax. Don't expect hyper modern, but spacious, clean and familiar. Particularly liked the hotels approach to soap. Rather than wasteful packaging the had several bottles arranged in the corridor to borrow during your stay.

I was there the days before Christmas.
I was there the days before Christmas. The village was charmingly decorated with lights. Perfect bus connections to Maastricht and Heerlen. Beautiful surroudings (with hills) for hikes, and a lovely evening stroll through the center. I also went to the nearby Triangle border where Holland meets Germany and Belgium: within a few seconds you are in a different country haha. And very special: you are at the highest point of the Netherlands! I definitely want to come back soon and rent a bike and cruise through the beautiful nature. And I want to visit the museum. Oh, and the market on Tuesday morning. And not to forget: taste the typical 'Limburgse vlaai'. Yummy!

Vaals is a nice clean town with plenty of places to eat.
Vaals is a nice clean town with plenty of places to eat. Some of the more recent development there has spoilt it a little but there is some great walking from there and it is very popular with cycling enthusiasts. The frequent bus services to nearby Aachen and beautiful Maastricht make it a place where you can leave the car behind.

It was also nice to have our only buffet breakfast of the trip. We stayed in Zimmer 3, which had a small separate room for the children, which was really helpful. Finally, it was interesting to see pictures in the attached restaurant (same owners) of the street (including the hotel) in the pre-Schengen era. It is idyllic in Spring time, with flowers blossom in the garden and birds chirping. Our luxury king room offered two great beds in different rooms with elegant furnishings. The spa tub in bathroom looks nice although we didn’t use it.

We arrived a little late and the restaurants close by were all closed. Luckily the hotel has a pub/bar with drinks and food. That was easy for us. There is lots of greenery around.
