I love the history and architecture of Campeche and the vibrancy of activities at the parks. The Malecon is a must see and experience as it adds modern to the old and is just a relaxing area. Great food … nice people … lots to see … lots to do and it feels safe to move around.
But the beach was a great disappointment. It’s far, expensive to get there and they charge you to enter yet they do not clean up the sargassum so it looks nasty and smells nasty 🤮

great walled town, long Malecon for morning walks before getting too hot. Nice small museum of archeology. The town is getting cleaned-up, repainting a lot of the older bldgs facades. Nice restaurants, very traditional Mercado, to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

I loved the old houses and the waterfront light and sound show. High marks for Colonial charm. Sadly, my restaurant experiences, while edible, were not up to the standard I experienced in Valladolid and Playa del Carmen. I did not get to the beach.

I really REALLY love old cities like this with walls and forts to explore. It was easy to get around on foot within the city walls and with colectivos to the forts outside the main area. The malecón was nice to walk in the evening and enjoy the sunset. Lots of renovations going on around the streets so they are looking after the place for the future too.

This city although big does not have a big feel.
This city although big does not have a big feel. Lots of history. Must say it’s the cleanest place in the Yucatán. Friendly people. Beautiful effort of maintaining buildings. Very impressive! Our favourite restaurants/pub was Patroni’s. Best pizza gourmet pizza ever! The lit up town with all the pubs and restaurants was lovely. Down the way a grand market to visit. Very good tour, English provided. The only downside was that we went for a tour at the time told to us at 4:30 and the attendant never showed up. We took it in the morning. Well worth the wait.

This was our second trip, 3 days long.
This was our second trip, 3 days long. Our first was a week long. We're considering moving to Campeche from Merida. Our first trip was just before Christmas and it was beautiful with plenty of activities going on the entire time. We were able to visit most of the tourist attractions but not all. The fortress wall, the Malecon, the Water Show, concerts in the Main Square, Trolley Tour etc. And you can't miss the central Mercado, it was amazing compared to others we have visited. Very clean, as was the rest of Campeche. We felt very safe wherever we went. Our second trip was to revisit and make sure we were still in love with Campeche, and we are. Not as many festivities but still plenty going on. The whole of Centro appears to be going through a government sponsored revitalization project. It was beautiful already but should be spectacular once it's completed. Highly recommend.
Hotel is beautiful, very modern. Staff sincerely helpful. Who knew the best of everything are all in our corner of town. The burger truck, La Brocha hélados , Toscana pizzeria, sandwich restaurant with chaya limonade, Inglesia de San Roman with the iconic black Jesus, and the nightly scene in and around the park next to the church is so full of life, including the basketball court, people of all ages are playing. And the océan front promenade is just a stone’s throw away. And the communal kitchen/ fridge really works well!
great value for money, good location (15 minutes walk from the centro historico). we were able to check in early and leave our luggages all day when we checked out. we had a night bus and we were able to stay at the reception using the wifi and the bathroom. the hotel ordered us a taxi also. clean room, good aircon, like everywhere in Mexico the pressure in the shower wasn’t amazing but we had hot water. amazing staff, and nice little bakery just around the corner. it was safe to walk at night also.
It's hard to know where to start! The house.is beautifully decorated and immaculate. Our room was beautiful,, too, breezy and cool, with a comfy bed.. Ellie, who cooked our breakfasts, was delightful. She called taxis for us when my Spanish proved to be inadequate. She also kept our room and the whole house and courtyard pristine. Her giggle will be one of my best memories of Campeche. The location was very convenient for exploring the charming city.
Very good staff, everyone of the team. They are really comitted to their job, so the things are well done. Hotel really have a charm, as it is nestled in colonisl house. Pool was clean, rooms tidy. Breakfast is not included, but you only pay additional 60- 110 pesos, depends of your choice. We extend our stay mostly because of the hotel. Positon is great, in tje city center. Free hotel parking. Very good value.
The apartment was the fanciest place of our whole trip through Yucatán. Every single item in the apartment matches in style. The location in the historic center of Campeche is great. Easy parking in front of the apartment. Sébastien is an impeccable host: He provides a lot of profound information for exploring the city and he was he helpful in all regards..Thanks a lot!
Great location for walking Centro. Host very accommodating. Very good communication via Whatsapp. Hotel is newish. Small rooftop pool with great view of cathedral. Small bar area on roof for general use. There is at least one unit with a kitchen for longer stays. We had a double, which was two rooms. Very small, but very clean bathroom. Sink outside bathroom.
We have stayed in a few accommodations in Mexico and this was by far the best and well decorated. Communication with José is super easy and very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped and the air conditioning works perfectly. You can really see the love that has gone into the decor and surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
The room was very spacious and clean with most comfortable bed! I loved that honey shower gel and sun room was a lovely space to relax. The pool area was nice, but wish it was cleaner. There are few parking spots just in front of the hotel. Location is great, quiet end of the Main Street with all restaurants just a walk away.
Professional service. Very quiet and clean hotel. An above average large and comfortable bed (I estimate 200x200cm). This is not a backpacker hotel, but rather a business hotel. It is similar in quality to European hotels and definitely surpasses other, even more expensive, hotels in which we stayed in Mexico.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast is nice and has a vegetarian option.
The hotel is close to the town and seafront by car.
Good wifi. Nice pool. Liked the little private veranda outside our room, which was a bonus.
Good value for money
The quality of the food needs improvement.
For example the chilaquiles were always served soggy. and that is basic food how can you go wrong on that?
The best thing about the hotel was the location and the café that is close by around the corner.
A pleasure to stay here. My bed was very comfortable, the room quiet, the staff were super helpful and friendly. All the meals were just delicious. Hotel Plaza Campeche is 2 blocks from the main square and a 5 minute walk to the beach.
location is Great, right next to the mercado and transport hub, just outside the walled city. water and coffee is provided. Jorge gave good information for visiting around. Seems in Campeche it is considered a rather economical stay.
The location of the hotel is perfect. It's located in the city Centre of Campeche and basically everything except the ADO station is reachable by feet.
I liked the hotel itself because everything is open space.
Parking works great in a private parking lot, and it's part of the price.
Great hotel, very well trained staff. Pool, terrace with view on the city.
Location is most central you can get. I would stay again.
This place was phenomenal. I specifically loved the pool, kitchen with all cooking necessities, and the hammock in our room. The comfiest bed I’ve slept in in Mexico so far, as well!! perfect location
While the hotel was very simple, it checked all the boxes: location, (8 min. walk to the zocolo and 2B locks to the sea); cleanliness; breakfast included; parking under the hotel.
This is a beautiful hotel, located just within the walls of the old city. It's easy to walk to both the waterfront and the popular Calle 59, the street has many restaurants on it.
The room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was good. Just need to add salsa to table and lemon for fruit plate( after all, we are in mexico!!)
