The staff were friendly and courteous.
The food was exceptionally good.
Facilities were somewhat ok ; however could be cleaner and better maintained. There was something that looked like a fish pond with dirty and muddy water

Everything!! It was an AMAZING experience. Sleeping almost outside in the middle of the nature is something that everyone should try at least once in a lifetime. We stayed in a tree house, which was very clean for an open space, with nets for keeping monkeys out, very clean bed sheets and towels (not so often in Sri Lanka), excellent food and very good prices for a remote location (full of nature and animals around you). The staff was amazingly warm and helpful with everything. I recommend this place 10000%. For sure will come back here if we will visit Yala again.
Not a location for 5 stars hotel kinda people, otherwise you will love it. Also, we liked that they improved their game, now you can find toiletries and better food (we loved it) so they really take into account the feedback received.
Make sure you understand that this is a safari area so going out of the premises by yourself can be dangerous, so book your lunch and dinner with them as little options are available in the area (we had a car and it was pretty difficult to find a decent lunch place around in the arrival day) -- they will ask you at arrival so you don't need to hustle before.
They offer safari at a good price, also.

The location was beautiful as it’s in the heart of the jungle. There is lots of wildlife and they have very cute puppies which Mira takes wonderful care of. The young man working there was also very nice and helpful. The room we were moved to was wonderful and quite comfortable and private. The next morning they helped arrange a taxi for us which was great as we had a long journey.

I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm.
Could not see Perahara, we could not stay after 11.30pm. If our Hotel room was close Temple we would have come in time of Perahera.
Could not enjoyed the journey, very disappointing since the Room was 2Km away from Kataragama Town and temple , no access to outside choice food , had to starve until we reached KataragamaTown.
Food and items were sold at uncontrollerable price.
For example-Perera and Sons - selling prices below
Fish rolls- 150
Fried Rice - 750/- quantity very less than side plate and a small drum stick piece chicken with least flesh.
Nestea - Rs 120/=
Lunch - Rs 520/= very very small quantity.
All bills are available with me as proof if necessary.
Surprisingly to know a very reputed food caterers such as PERERA And Sons exploiting selling least quantity food at exorbitant prices compared to Colombo prices to Temple Pilgrims visitors, striving to exist due to economic crisis with no though and concerned to the Poor and needy.
At a Pilgrimage area, such as Kataragama, the business rich, could have treated the mo have visitors in a compromise way, selling at reasonably low price or served as Dansal.
Their were visitor sharing an incompletely served fried rice plate some were begging at the entrance.
This is the way GOD FEARING PEOPLE behave in business concerns at Festival period .
GOVMT need to do something valuable to address the needs of the Pilgrim visitors comming from all ends of the country Sri Lanka.
Could not fulfill the needs we went to Kataragama due exorbitant accommodation and food price.

Kataragama temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a temple...
Kataragama temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a temple complex dedicated to Buddhist guardian deity God Kataragama and Hindu War God Murugan. It is one of the few religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by the Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and the Vedda people. Kataragama deviyo is a deification of the legendary king Mahasena, who is born as a Bodhisattva. According to legendary history, Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya was built by King Dutugemunu around 160 years B.C. in fulfilment of a vow to defeat King Elara in battle. It was endowed with a large extent of land by King Dutugemunu for its maintenance and subsequent monarchs did likewise. Kataragama is a multi-religious sacred town. Despite the differences of caste and creed, many Sri Lankans show great reverence to God Kataragama. They honour him as a very powerful deity and beg divine help to overcome their personal problems or for success in business enterprises, etc., with the fervent hope that their requests will be granted. They believe that God Kataragama exists and is vested with extraordinary power to assist those who appeal to him with faith and devotion in times of distress or calamity.
Staff was so friendly as well as welcoming. Hotel is located in very close proximity to Pooja Nagaraya with very spacious and clean rooms with free private parking. We liked everything about Senora. Additionally, when we requested to assist us in a Yala Safari, the Staff gave us contact details of a great safari guide as well. All in all, I would highly recommend Senora and would stay here again if I visit Kataragama.
A great place in katargama and definitely one of the most unique places I've stayed in Sri Lanka.
The whole decor of the hostel including the rooms was really nice. There was art everywhere and few pet animals.
They even offer cycle to take to the main city as it's 3 km away.
The room was quite big and comfortable.
Fernando gave great recommendations of things to do in katargama.
We liked how the safari was organised, our guide Prosad was great, we saw leopards and a lot of elephants! The whole day was a wonderful experience.
The location is quiet, it's about 20 minutes to the city, super close to safari, but there are few options to eat, so you can order food in the hotel, ask for "not spicy" if you don't like spicy.
Staff and management were just excellent - very friendly. We ate both evening meals at the hotel and the food was good, portions large and prices reasonable for remote location ($5-$7 per meal). Great service and attentive staff. Nice chalet style bungalow rooms, relatively modern but could do with a bit of a renovation in the near future
Helpful and knowledgeable staff, very willing to help and go beyond their own schedule to make sure everything went well. We went to Kataragama only for the safari i Yala, and the manager helped us set up things. The rooms also had ac which is nice, and the hotell offered laundry service.
First of all: Best hotel staff ever!!!
You can't wish better people for a stay, from the manager to the cooks and the lady who welcome you :-)
Very well situated too, just near the temple ground and the bus station.
If you wanna eat something near the little pool, enjoy :-)
It was a pleasure staying at Senora. Hotel is very close to the famous Kataragama Devalaya. The place is well-maintained and cleaned. Very comfortable beds. The price I paid was absolutely worth it! I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown Kataragama.
budget friendly, delicious food & beverages, kabiliththa safari for 40000/-, cleaned room, pool service, transport to airport, manik gaga behind, friendly staffs, kids play areas, yala safari for 8000/-, Closed to both kataragama & sella kataragama.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location is very close to Pooja Boomiya and the Centre. Even if you want to dine out side there are options in Kataragama town.Overall it was a very pleasant experience to spend an overnight there.
It shows 22.50$ for double rooms but they got 24.91$.
The location is not which he mentioned.
without any extra services they add additional charges for booking.com commissions .
At first sight a nice looking hotel with 5 stars lobby and rooms. Big pool and a very nice restaurant with very good local and international food. Very helpful an nice staff.
The staff was helpful. They provided us a pass to drive the car directly to the Kataragama devala premises. Also helped us in the dining. The rooms were clean.
I came to do a poja to Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya, and it is 700m walk from the hotel. The hotel's parking area is large enough to park around 10 vehicles.
