We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.
We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things.
It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors.
Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english.
Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

Oku-oi kojo, Yume no Tsuribashi...difficult to get to, but worth it. A must visit for those who want to get on hanging bridges, unmanned stations in middle of a lake, train lovers, nature enthusiasts and of course kids who love Thomas.

We only stayed in Shizuoka for 1 night and it was definitely not enough length. We saw Mt. Fiji and beaches, and also experienced hot spring. We went to the waterfall as well. All of experiences were enjoyable.

As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit!
As a tea lover, this is the best place to visit! Plenty of tea shops in the city and if you have more time, there are also tea farms outside the city limits that you can visit. There are tours organised by the local tourism bureau, you just have to inquire at the visitors information desk.
This was my second visit and I wish the hotel would market to Oceania visitors as it’s truely an amazing location and experience that I know other travellers from downunder would love. Hotel provides a free return shuttle from Shizuoka Station to the hotel which we used twice during our stay. The hotel also offered a free ride to and from the ropeway which was a nice bonus. Staff were very professional yet accommodating during our short stay.
Arriving at the hotel was quite a surprise as we did not expect something quite as grand as it was. The walk from the station is only about 150mt. The rooms are very large for a standard Japanese twin room with fabulous views over the city scape. There are also windows that you can see Mt.Fuji. The area around the station has plenty of eateries, shopping and is not far from touristy sites. Would stay here again.
Cute shabby chic/vintage style building, well located for shops, restaurants and cafes. About 15 minutes walk to Shizuoka station. The facilities are good and it's well organised for a comfortable stay. Clean comfortable cubicles. The lady who checked me in was very sweet and friendly. Lovely communal kitchen/dining/workspace with a fridge, kettle, microwave and sink. Very good coffee!
Everything except the remnant tobacco smell from yesteryears and which I’m sensitive to. It’s an old world 4 stars hotel which is very well maintained. The location is unbeatable. Next to train station, the airport bus is in front of the entrance. I get a view of Mt Fuji from my room. Staff service is excellent and on par with a 4 star hotel.
Loved the free shuttle from the train station and back. Beautiful hotel with stunning views of Mount Fuji, from both the room, lobby and restaurant. Breakfast was $40 each and worth every penny! Dinner prices were out of our league at the main dining rooms, so we ate ate the off site restaurant which was affordable and the food was excellent.
Room is clean and big enough for solo traveler. Hotel lobby is at 2nd floor but it was fine for me as I do not have any big luggage. It is also very close to Shinkansen station. For those that don't like walking under hot weather, this hotel can be a bit far from the JR. But that is not a negative point as there are also bus stops nearby.
The hotel was decent overall, offering a satisfactory experience. Despite the minor inconveniences, such as the distance from the train station, I found the stay acceptable. Additionally, the hotel's setup and ambiance seemed adequate for a comfortable stay. The rooms were notably clean, contributing positively to the overall experience.
Our 2nd stay that was as good as our first. Can't beat the location. Very close to the JR station and there are a many interesting cafes, restaurants and bars close by. We had two bicycles which we were able to be safely stored in the lobby. The rooms are a little bigger than a normal business hotel.
We liked that the hotel was only about an 8 minute walk from the JR Station. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and we really appreciated that they were able to store our luggage after we had checked out.
Our room was small but very efficiently designed and the bed was very comfortable.
Very clean and one of the best showers we had in all of Japan. They have some great amenities and free soda, coffee and alcohol. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They can call you taxis and even help get a hold of the taxi company when someone loses their phone.
This hotel is about 10 min walking distance from the train station - not that close but walkable.
Compared to the usual business hotels in Japan, it has a spacious lobby and the rooms are reasonably large.
It's unique point is the thermal bath on the top floor.
The room is tidy and clean and the hotel staff also very kind. The hotel is very close to the station, also has a big supermarket that 24hrs open nearby. Really a good place to stay.
