Hotel Villa Diodoro, hotel in Taormina

Hotel Villa Diodoro features a hillside position and an outdoor pool with panoramic sea views, a 5-minute walk from the historical center of Taormina.

Old style hotel with great views over the sea and to Mt Etna, including from the breakfast/dining room. Close to the old town for easy access but just outside so it's quiet (okay, some wave sounds). Great terrace for afternoon coffee or apero. If you're looking for a modern hotel, this isn't your hotel. But if you're looking for old world charm, it fits the bill.

No food available for lunch. Had dinner there. Our orders were delivered less than 10 minutes after ordered and beautifully presented on the plate. Service was so fast the meals must have already been prepared and under a heat lamp for a while. Rabbit was dry. Having the shuttle was a definite bonus. Easy access and parking at hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Taormina

The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown

As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza drenched with vibrant pink blossoms, you might have to pinch yourself. The amazing location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.

But wait, there's more. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the largely intact Greek Theater has amazing views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Great summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars feature live music.

Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, with a clock tower and church overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.

A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the center of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the southwest, there's a long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and to the north is the bay by Mazzaró.

As you'd expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there's no shortage of places to stay in Taormina on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, centrally located apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Stunning Taormina, full of heartbreaking corners and history. Our enthusiasm had to face the reality of a pricy place. Disappointment in meeting insisting members of staff from the hospitality field, who sometimes looked desperately in need of customers for their restaurants, bars, boat trips. Etc..Parking is very expensive but we appreciated the free shuttle service to the city center.

Taormina has beautiful views with pretty venitian buildings, very historical. The food is delicious, as it's a prime tourist location the price of dining out does reflect this. The service in restaurants is good, I found staff to be friendly. The bus station at Interbus terminal is in easy walking distance and it's a short bus ride to Giuardini Naxos beach which is sandy. Waiting times for buses can be long if you miss the bus. Cost of one way ticket for 3 people just under 6 euros. The cost of the journey on bus from Taormina to Catania airport is cheap, 21 Euros for 3 people. Cost of a taxi from the airport to Taormina is a bit expensive at 100 euros, but you can get the interbus which is a cheaper option but will take longer. Our journey by Taxi to Valentina B&B was around 1 hour and was arranged by the lovely lost Loredana at Valentina B&B. Our driver Giuseppe was polite , friendly and provided lots of tips about the location and places to eat etc. Try the paste marandela Sicilian cookies, almond flavour is delicious, also the Arancini, a good savoury snack filled with rice with different fillings. Try the tomato & veg one, delicious.Lucios restaurant was fantastic, staff friendly. And Di foesteria, opposite Valentina B&B where you can have breakfast or brunch, very good quality and nice staff.

The apartment was close to all amenities and the Bus station is a 10 minute walk. The apartment is beautifully set up and has a washing machine which was a great help. We had the best stay at this hotel! All of the staff were extremely courteous and Sabina at the front desk was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating to all of our needs. I would recommend staying here based on her service alone! The room and bathroom were comfortable, spacious, and extremely clean. Perfect location just off the western end of the main pedestrian thoroughfare. This is a small family run 'boutique' hotel which has recently been renovated to a very high standard. Our room was quiet with good aircon and good buffet breakfast. Unlike some accommodation in Taormina, this hotel has a garage with parking for approx. 5 cars but strongly advise you pre-book. You will need satnav to find hotel. The owner (and staff) is very helpful and friendly and will guide you in/out of the garage.

The hotel is on a nice beach and has also a nice swimming pool area. The hotel offers a good service of shuttle bus to Taormina town which is about three kilometers up hill, this is plus because public parking in Taormina is limited. Good breakfast in the garden.

Excellent location close to beach and cable car to centre of Taormina. Excellent waiter service dinner in restaurant. Hotel has own beach club/lido with mini bus transport, payable but good value for a day

Best hotel in Taormina. The location couldnt be better, the rooms beautifully made and the food was the best we tried in Sicily and that says a lot.

Excellent location, there are few hotels of this kind so well located at the centre of Taormina. Very attentive and helpful staff.
