A very friendly town with good restaurants and good quality shops. If you are self catering there is a fabulous supermarket in the centre of town, wine shops with wine tasting, deli's and cheese shops. We had only a few days there but we will return. We ate in the square where all the restaurants were good, they were full so best to book early.

Asti is an historic town in the heart of the famous Piedmonte wine region and is readily accessible to the surrounding area of vineyards, wineries, great wine tasting, castles, hilltop towns like La Morra and, Barola, Roman ruins, and amazing countryside. The Etruscans were here before the Romans and the area has so much history. Asti, Like Sienna has its Contradas and has the race in the Fall while Sienna has it in July. We were lucky enough to see the Contrada parade and flag throwing practice in the Plazza in preparation for the event.

I stayed one night on a journey through Europe.
I stayed one night on a journey through Europe. I'd expected somewhere basic - but this place was Fawlty Towers made flesh. There was no heating in the room, at a time of year when the outside temperature was -5'c. The corridors & stairwells were pitch-black, as the sensors for the lights were ineffective, so I navigated my way around using the torch from my phone. When I went down to reception in the morning, the whole area was full of piles of broken glass, shards of crockery & the smashed remains of a grandfather clock - I've no idea why (break-in? fight between guests?). None of the staff who were present in the morning could speak any English. Breakfast was a microwaved croissant & slice of cake, a glass of juice & a cup of instant coffee.

The apartment was located right next to an all you can eat sushi restaurant. It was Fantastic! I spent the day walking the streets and enjoying coffee, sandwiches and pizza as well as checking out the local architecture. The town itself is very cute and a wonderful piece of Italy!
The Hotel Lis located across street from lovely city park offers a bountiful breakfast including cooked to order eggs as well as well equipped guest rooms. Staff is always there and helpful by for example informing us of the museum ticketing system that requires a visit to Palazzo Mazzett to purchase a Smart Ticket for entry to Asti's many museum that have no live attendants but require the Smart Card for entry. Value for money!
This is a little gem situated right at the top of a small village about 4 kms from Asti. As we visited during a heat wave their little pool was an oasis!
The owners were very friendly & provided the personal touch. It’s only a short drive to the famous vineyards of Barolo.
The restaurant attached served excellent food with views over the surrounding valleys.
Our stay at La Tintoria was excellent. The apartment is perfectly located in central Asti, which is a lovely little gem near Turin. Lorenzo is a great host and gave us perfect tips of restaurants and attractions in the city. He even booked a wonderful restaurant for us before we arrived at his apartment, as we could not book ourselves on route. Grazie mille!
Amazing and kind hosts! We felt so welcomed. The breakfast was delicious: homemade goods, local meats and cheeses, coffee and wines available at any time. The rooms were fully equipped and very comfortable and cozy. Perfect location, 10 min drive to Asti, 25 min to Alessandria. Spending afternoon at the pool was especially relaxing and enjoyable!
The receptionist Louisella went out of her way to welcome us and to explain where a local pizza place (5 mins walk) was for our evening meal. The room was large and comfy and clean. Even though the hotel is in a reasonably industrial area it was made elegant inside and there was no noise from the motorway.
Everything! the place, owners were so nice and helpful! Francesco was always there to help, suggested places and events to visit! we had an exceptional dinner on Saturday evening, it was very surprising with wine tasting and good dishes! Thank you, will definitely recommend this place to all my friends!
Laura is an excellent host who is very knowledgeable about Asti (and local products!) The room retains the charm of the house and well fitted with modern facilities (shower, toilet etc) She made sure to always check if I was comfortable, and breakfast is always cosy in the dining area.
Reana was very nice and accommodating. We were met by a friend and let into the apartment. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were lucky enough to be there for the Asti Douja d'Or wine festival. Perfect quiet location.
Asti is a lovely city and enjoyed our walk at night through the old city center. Breakfast was excellent in a beautifully decorated room with all kinds of antique and collector items. the parking in their courtyard was very convenient.
Ease of parking and really close to the highway. Simple but good daily menu at the hotel for dinner at 18€ including a Prosecco a 1/4 of wine an entree and a main dish
