The location is perfect and ideally located close to the glacier, easy access and yet secluded. Clean, functionable and well thought out layout. Owner is very responsive. stunning, make sure you walk all the way down the trail, there are two other gorgeous waterfalls that a lot of people missed by not going all the way to end end of the trail (which is only a few hundred meters long).

This is an amazing place to hike and see some glorious views - especially on a clear day - which can be a bit tricky. We were extremely fortunate to have some of the the sunniest days recorded. Could not ask for a more comfortable hike. There are glacier hikes that you can pay for but honestly parking at the Park and hiking up yourself is something you will not soon forget. Not too laborious, but you defintely feel like you are exercising. Loved every minute of this hike and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Sadly we only had a day in Skaftafell and I wish we had more time to explore the national park. What we did see was stunning. Nature, hikes, glaciers and ocean all within a stones throw of each other. Well worth a longer visit than just to pass through.

Though hotel Skaftafell is located in the middle of nowhere, its location is super-efficient for exploring the Skaftafell national park with all its glaciers. Jokulsarlon and Fjallsarlon glacial lagoons and horse-riding. The restaurant is a highlight (and pretty much the only option as there's virtually nothing nearby) - the food is quite inventive, well-cooked and flavoursome. The restaurant service is also warm, friendly and efficient.

Standard European breakfast was nice. Dinner at the restaurant did not meet expectations after reading other reviews. Beds were unbelievably hard and seemed small for twins. We had the misfortune of having some sort of really loud generator (?) going all night, which we heard because we kept our window open since the room was so warm. We stayed in many hotels around Ring Road and I felt this was the least impressive.

Lovely people at this very clean hotel situated strategically a 10-40 minutes drive from great waterfalls and icebergs. Just a 15 minutes walk behind the hotel is a Svinafellsjökull Iceberg. We stayed two nights in the beginning of April and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. The food is excellent, both breakfast buffet and dinner. Highly recommended!

It’s the only place near the entrance of the National park, but other reviews said it wasn’t that good….but I was VERY happy there. REALLY great hike right behind the hotel (to a glacier) and super nice staff and happy hour and nice lobby and totally acceptable rooms. Not luxury but totally nice and clean and good. The other review was wrong.

The hotel was excellent with very friendly staff. It is ideally located to do excursions such as the ice caves. It also has nice hiking areas to the rear leading to nearby glaciers. The restaurant and bar were extremely good and the buffet breakfast with some hot food available was very good.

The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent and far exceed the expectations I had of a 3* property. The property was a convenient place to stop on a drive from Reykjavik to Hofn and the location was also excellent for the stunning Fagurholsmyri Glacier.
