Hotel Latrabjarg, hotel in Örlygshöfn

Located in Vestfirdir, the Western Fjords of Iceland, this family-run hotel is 14 mi from the bird cliffs of Látrabjarg. It offers free Wi-Fi and an on-site restaurant with bar.

The location is lovely- remote and peaceful but close to the cliffs and other pretty areas. It's a really special spot, as you have the mountains to one side, and the beach within eyesight (about a 10 minute walk away). The thing that makes this spot very special is the owner and staff. He is very caring, takes his time in assisting each person, is very willing to share and recommend experiences, he truly puts a lot of effort into making sure your stay is enjoyable. It's a small team- seemed like only 3 people do everything there, but they do it really well. As a side bonus- they have a great tea selection :) We will be coming back- I highly recommend it!

Quietly set in the Westfjords of Iceland, these cottages are located along the Patreksfjördur Fjord. Each offers cottages with cooking facilities and views of the scenic sea and mountain countryside.

Hygge vibes were above and beyond anything we could have dreamed here. So romantic and cozy to stay on a sheep farm in the middle of the westfjords.

Located in the Westfjords, this hotel is set in the town center of Patreksfjord. Free WiFi access is available, along with a terrace and shared lounge with impressive scenic views.

We stayed here while visiting the western peninsula. Beautiful town, accomodations fine, bathroom was a little tight with a shower curtain and enough room for luggage. Breakfast included and also went to the swimming pool up the street and local restaurant for dinner.

Hotel Breidavik, hotel in Örlygshöfn

Set in the quiet countryside of the Icelandic West Fjords, this guest house offers rooms with sea views and breakfast, as well as hostel-style self-catering rooms.

The manager?/owner was so helpful and happy to see us! She was great. There was a separate building for cooking, which was helpful. It would have been nice to have the restaurant open a bit later. It is a long drive to get there, and we were the early ones to arrive about 8pm. The morning breakfast was amazing!

This seems to be a place where many people return having been here for camp or vacation as youths, like the migrating birds, they come back. It had that feel to it, but one puts up with more in youth than one can in older age. The access takes much longer than it seems or than GPS will have you think. Plan accordingly. Your cell phone may not have signal unless in a populated area. The “highway” to get here is a ROUGH one! We lived, and drove, in Canada, Spain, Portugal Norway and Colorado- these in Westfjords were by far the worst gravel roads ever: yay, Iceland!! You win!! You have to bring your own supplies and food in many cases. Plan accordingly. Gas up when you can, never going below 3/4 tank. The roads are mostly gravel and usually narrow. But the location is pristine, minus the sheep dung and probably bird doo, but those are a minor thing. Seeing the almost-midnight sun dipping into the horizon there is a marvelous sight. Seeing so many migratory birds ( and people) excited about arriving in their summer home- breathtaking.
