Hotel Selja, hotel in Hellisholar

Set in Hvolsvöllur, 7.7 km from Seljalandsfoss, Hotel Selja offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant.

The location was excellent, close enough to the main road, but far enough so that it was the best location where we saw the northern lights, just outside our room. Breakfast was quite ok, the mushroom soup for dinner was DELICIOUS, the staff was very nice and helpful and the view from the room ... wow. We'll definitely stay here again next time.

Tindasel Lodge, hotel in Hellisholar

Located in Hella, 36 km from Seljalandsfoss, Tindasel Lodge provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

The hotel is brand new and very well located, just 10 minutes from Road 1. Bernat is a lovely, attentive host, with also good advice on things to do in the area. The rooms are new and very comfortable. The sauna, jacuzzi and cold bath after a long day at the Golden Circle were a real treat, especially with the gorgeous view that comes with. Breakfast was also very good. Make the most of it, prices are low at the moment! We nearly felt guilty to be the only guests during the night we stayed, we hope that a hidden gem like this will soon be fully booked everyday, that's the least we wish for all the efforts they made !

Stóra-Mörk III Guesthouse, hotel in Hellisholar

Set 8.3 km from Seljalandsfoss and 38 km from Skogafoss Waterfall, Stóra-Mörk III Guesthouse provides accommodation in Stora Mork. This farm stay offers free private parking and a shared kitchen.

This place was one of those finds on booking.com that you can never get into. So to find it had availability for when we were travelling was great. The location is amazing with some stunning views all around. We stayed in one of the 8 bed apartments, which are on the upper level of the two out buildings. The apartment is well appointed with a large dining table and lounge. The stove is a little out dated and the ring markings have been drawn on with a sharpie, so at least you know which on is which. Having two showers and toilets is brilliant when there are 8 of you staying though, and the views from the balcony are amazing.

The cabin was very small and basic.

The cabin was very small and basic. I weigh 120 pounds and could barely maneuver myself in the bathroom. The shower stall was not set up properly and water leaked onto the bathroom floor. There was no WIFI in the cabin and I was told to use the restaurant if I needed to make contact with someone. The restaurant was closed at night. If I had had an emergency, I would have had to drive somewhere for WIFI access. The food was mediocre and expensive. I do not recommend this facility.

The property is on camping site, has very nice view.

The property is on camping site, has very nice view. Plenty space between the two cottage. But cottage was too much smaller for four people. We had not enough space for cooking and put our bags inside. In summer time it's very hard to get accomodations in Iceland, so I have not much choice, so no complain. Price is higher as per facility.

I loved the location & how cute these cottages were.

I loved the location & how cute these cottages were. Next time I would just ask for extra towels during check-in since there is no housekeeping & ask for the heat to be turned down. We couldn’t sleep bcuz of the heat but couldn’t find out how to turn it down.

We arrived very late and had made last minute accommodations with Hellisholar Guesthouse. The owners were accommodating and even answered our calls for further instruction when we arrived. The grounds were well groomed and family friendly. I was sorry to have slept through breakfast, though I'm sure it was amazing. Nice play area on site for the kiddos to get their energy out.

This is a great area to visit with beautiful glacierview, very green in the summer. We visited Gluggafoss and Þorsteinslundur with it´s idyllic waterfall and some small countrychurches. We also took the gravelroad to Emstrur as an opposite to the green pasturelands of Fljótshlíð. We had dinner at Hótel Fljótshlíð, very nice food.
