    The castle itself is magnificent.

The castle itself is magnificent. Great Staff … all so friendly and helpful. Wedding Ceremony room was beautifully decorated. Excellent breakfast served with a smile 😊 Had a delicious meal in the library… definitely the most generous pizza I have come across. I could only get through half of it. There is no lift so it was difficult bringing luggage up three flights of stairs.

It was fun staying in an authentic castle, it was preserved nicely. I wish we had taken time to walk the grounds and experience gardens and trails. We only stayed one night, and the accomodations were nice - but it was definately an "old" facility. The restaurant in the "dungeon" had a lot of character, the food was good but the service was awful.

The hiking trails around the castle were amazing, easy to complete (no steep hills, paths are large and comfortable). The animals live and animate the scenery. The room was great value for money. The availability of food (good) at the bar was important since we arrived by taxi and didn't want to walk to the village to eat, although it's close by. The water available to purchase could come in bigger sizes.

For a 25th anniversary gift to my wife, I took her to Ireland and we stayed here. She said it was like a fairy tale come true! When we walked into our suite she had tears in her eyes. You guys knocked it out of the park! WE WILL BE STAYING HERE AGAIN!!! The staff, the food, the history, the facilities, everything about this place was top notch. It was the highlight of our trip. Thank you for an amazing time!

Breakfast was amazing, with all the options one could ask for, including fresh fruit, cereals and pastries as well as a hot, Full Irish breakfast. The room, located off the courtyard, was immense. Although not in the main building, these rooms are over the site of the ancient monastery that was once here and incorporate some of the original walls. The site is beautiful, with forest walks and even a stone circle behind the castle. The room was immense, the tub/shower roomy, the water hot.

Unique experience, something different and alternative! Ideal for a group getaway (especially hen/stag parties) or just a small group get together! Quite and remote, with Kinnitty castle trail loops up the road! We loved every minute of our stay! The pub itself is ideal, on the doorstep of the townhouse/lodges! pizza and pints, just simple & delicious!

The castle was beautiful but the accommodations themselves were very subpar. The bathroom floor was filthy, the bed was very uncomfortable and there were spiders and spiderwebs everywhere. I get that the place was old so I expected it to be a little rustic but you can make rustic be clean, especially if you are calling yourself a 4-star hotel.

Lovely place all around. The hotel itself was great in and of itself, but the surrounding grounds were worth exploring as well. Staff was amazingly friendly and efficient. The Dungeon Bar was a great place to have a drink or dinner, or both. Well worth visiting.

Wonderful old "castle" (really a grand country estate) in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, including an atmospheric "Dungeon" bar. Great walking trails accessible right from the hotel grounds. Nice "to order" hot breakfast included.
