It's situated in a prime location, overlooking Lake Atitlan, in a private and serene spot in San Marcos. While I had high expectations for El Dragon due to the photos, the bar and restaurant exceeded my expectations, and it offers direct access to the lake. Unfortunately, I was unable to use the Jacuzzi as it was undergoing maintenance.

Dita and Casa Rosa was a dream come true! Dita's hospitality was exceptional, and the grounds were breathtaking. The spacious loft was beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and the breakfast with a view of the lake was simply divine. I look forward to returning this summer – can't wait!

Favorite hostel I've stayed in at the lake and I will definitely book here when I stay in San Marcos. Great price for private room. Great roof terrace with adequate space for hanging out and other activities, and with comfy couches. Wonderful breakfast. Amazing staff. The owner is such a sweetie poo and the other staff are all very nice. Beds are comfy. Best part, you can't hear the roosters and dogs in the same way I could at every other hostel I've stayed in, in San Marcos. Most places, the dogs/roosters sound like they're right next to you. Casa Ahau is far enough that it doesn't keep you up at night, but not too far from town center- I enjoyed the walk. Comfy, friendly, peaceful, full of beautiful plants and herbs. A few little comfy nooks in the communal areas.

Spacious and plenty of room for the 3 of us. Location provides great views of volcano, along with the villages of San Juan and San Pedro. Always a welcome oasis to return to this retreat home after a day out exploring. We would find a different place to enjoy on the property. Very well taken care of and has everything you need.

Stunning retreat in San Marcos, boasting direct access lake Atitlan, ideal for swimming and soaking in the breathtaking view of the San Pedro volcano. The accommodations are both beautiful and comfortable, offering a peaceful escape from the noise of the town while still conveniently located within walking distance of grocery stores and eateries. For those who prefer to stay in, the space comes equipped with its own fridge and kitchen, allowing you to cook and enhance your relaxation experience without interruption.

San Marcos is not for all travelers - lets get that out of the way.
But there are groups of people that will upon arrival never ever want to leave. Spiritually minded people, those who really enjoy Yoga not as a sport or fitness regime but a way of life. Anyone into any form of ecstatic dance, shamanism, eco tourism or the like will discover in San Marcos a vibrant like-minded community and will never want to leave. The lake offers amazing views, a true spiritual center on this Earth and terrific vegetarian food options all over.
DO NOT rent a car to come here, local transportation is by boats and TukTuk's, quite convenient infact.
El Giardino and Emporium are terrific restaurants, as well as Lush.

San Marcos is very quiet and the Reserva is beautiful for swimming. There are a lot of great spots to grab a drink or delicious food. It was perfect for spending the day reading, kayaking and swimming in the sun.

A perfect location with almost a private beach.
A perfect location with almost a private beach. It is more suitable for people who prefer loneliness as it is isolated from town and not too many people are around. I would recommend getting supplied with groceries as getting to town is a long uphill walk.
In my opinion it is a bit overpriced compared to other location in San Marcos

San Marcos is beautiful and as a solo female traveler, found it to be quite safe. It has a wonderful no profit organization that helps empower local women, provides an after school program for children so they are not working on the street , and they also help feed the elderly. We as travelers are fortunate enough to visit these places, but for me it was nice to find a place I could give back to the community simply by purchasing a delicious lunch for $3.

Beautiful restaurants. Low key atmosphere.
Beautiful restaurants. Low key atmosphere. It’s small so you’ll see some of the same things. But it has amazing gems all over. Yoga forest, eagles nest, and especially Las Pyramides were amazing spots. Too many good restaurants to try in two weeks.
Most everything is walkable. And the trampoline is a must, even if you don’t do the 10 meter jump into Atitlan. 15Q for a beautiful spot to read, write, or swim.
