Hotel Byzantion is located down the road to the Byzantine town of Mistras, a short drive from the Archaeological Site. It features rooms with spectacular views of ancient Mistras and Mount Taygetos.

Good location but a bit noisy outside with some restaurant terrasses nearby. Quite cheap. Decent pool for the kids in a nice garden.

Clean, spacious room, just as portrayed on the website.
Comfy bed.
The location was perfect in order to explore Mystras and the castle.
The breakfast was exceptional. Traditional and in very big portions, everything delicious.
The stuff was kind and helpful.
There is a big grass area with a swing for the kids to play.
The view from the room terrace is great.
You could close the window shutters completely, which is not always the case. So morning light was kept outside as long as we wanted.
Last but not least, the restaurant was a very pleasent surprise. The food was magnicificent! With local dishes, all tasteful and in reasonable prices.
The whole experience was on a level I rearly find in Greece.

We had a large room in a traditional building very close to the surprisingly lively centre of Mystras. The room had everything we needed, there was off road parking. The hostess was very friendly and the room was a bargain at the price we paid.

Location - beyond fabulous; secluded, up a (very) winding road, with a stunning view over the valley. Ioanna (the owner) - charming, helpful and full of interesting facts about the old village. To avoid the drive back down in the evening for dinner, the restaurant in Mythras brought dinner to us. Ioanna made sure the fridge was stocked with our breakfast. Simple accommodation, but very clean and comfortable.

I could happily stay longer in the superb hotel, but mainly there is one sight to see in Mystras - the site of the old Byzantine city.
We spent longer there than anticipated; and if we had more time and energy we could have spent the entire day.
Drive to the top; see the citadel and the churches at the top. Drive to the bottom to see the rest of the site.
There is good information at the site, but prepare by reading up ahead and ideally have a good guidebook to make clear what to see at the site.

The Mystras Archeological Site is an extraordinary collection of Byzantine churches and ruins, built into and atop a steep mountain. Allow at least two hours and be prepared for lots of walking on slippery, uneven, steep surfaces. Worth it!
Tip: easy to park in Mystras main square, with multiple tavernas to choose from for lunch or dinner.

It's a small town or you can even call it a village.
It's a small town or you can even call it a village. Coffee drinks and food can be found in the center square of that village. Ideal location to visit the famous Castle city of Mystras and after that, regroup and continue your journey. If i may suggest, the route from there to Kalamata through Taygetos mountain (EO82) is amazing...

I am very sorry for the CONFUSION in my review particualrly of this place. UNFORTUNATELY we could only spend ONE night at this magical and extraordinary PYRGOS OF MYSTRA. It was one of the most memorable places I have stayed in. Our host MARIA excels in her efficiency and kindness. The whole place has an aura of serenity and peace. It is no doubt due to the staff but also the surroundings: a profusion of orange and lemon trees, paerfumed roses and a beautifully landscaped garden. The room is not only beautiful but extremely well equipped and it was the best shower during my trip to Greece! We really received the royal treatment and in the magnificent dining room we were served a most delicious breakfast. I was so very sorry to leave the place the next morning and I woud recommend, without any hesitation, this particular hotel and make sure that you can spend MORE than only one night there. Our fondest appreciation to Maria.

Lovely quaint village within walking distance of the ancient archaeological sites, which are stunning.
It’s all very hilly to take a taxi to the top gate of the site if you’re feeling lazy - then it’s just up to the castle and then it’s all downhill back through the site and down into town

An amazing ruined city - great for anyone interested in history. We started at the top, walking up to the fortress then down through the city . We did not move our car as some tourist books recommend. The restaurant is outside the site but tickets are valid all day so no problem returning to walk back up - recommend this as you see things from a different perspective going in the opposite direction. There are sufficient information boards. Be aware there is only one toilet on site. Good shoes are a must - these are ruins! Highly recommend.
The hotel was better than we had expected. The location is just by Mystras and very close to Sparta. The hotel personnel were absolutely fantastic, making us feel welcome (kudos to the hiring and training team :) ) The facilities were clean and in great condition. Fantastic breakfast and also a very nice restaurant covered all our needs. We also used the spa facilities for massage, which were also at a peak level.
The room provided all the necessary amenities and even the crib for our toddler was in mint condition.
The hotel is well situated in the centre of Mystras village and one kilometre from the entrance to the Byzantian castle ruins . The owner was helpful and showed us the room and parking , he also manages the restuarant with his wife and teenage children .Our room was behind the main building on the ground floor with a great view of the castle ,a balcony and parking outside . Shower worked well, and beds were comfortable . The owner offered us a lift up to the castle entrance and we walked down.
Our room was quiet in a new section of the hotel. It was considerably larger than expected and was very clean. The hotel had a restaurant in another building, where we had dinner on our first eveving, and there were several other restaurants close by. It was only 1.5 km from the main parking lot of the Mystra archaeological site, and less than 4 km from the upper parking lot.
Great and rejuvenating weekend at what we believe is the best SPA-Hotel in Greece.
Great location, just below a forest, good view, quiet, easy to reach from Athens, very professional and friendly staff. Great SPA facilities, professional treatments, comfortable rooms, very good beds, very good breakfast.
Very good idea to have mobile-free areas.
Great location , beautiful ,cosy hotel. All very clean . Wonderful breakfast with homemade products. The hospitality and friendliness of Maria was amazing, she is a true professional and you feel that she has a lot of experience in managing the hotel and have her guests feel welcome
It was a great 2 day stay during our round trip in Greece.
The location is great with several restaurants nearby.
Big room, spacious and well clean. Bathroom good, spacious, shower good. Bed very comfortable.
Private parking.
Loved the host Helena, extremely sympathetic and pleasant.
Highly recommended. Ideal for visiting Mystras and Sparti.
The flat is located within walking distance of restaurants and bars in the village of Mystras and has a fabulous view of Mystras from the terrace. Tacis and Eka are charming and very helpful. The flat is well equipped with everything you could need. I highly recommend it.
The room was great, the breakfast ample and the location was beautiful! There was an amazing view of Spata from the hotel and you could walk to the archeological site of Mystras. The staff were also very helpful and suggested walks and restaurants near by.
Beautiful hotel scattered over some 10 separate houses with beautiful landscaping in between. All high quality materials, very well equipped suites. The style is a bit dated, but the quality is perfect. Some 5km from the touristic town
Beautiful room and view, yummy breakfast.
Loved this hotel. Really lovely staff member, a young gentleman explained all we needed to know and was extremely helpful, a real asset to the hotel!!!
Beautiful surroundings, quiet, a place to really relax, with great stuff. The hotel was very well kept up both inside and outside with some really gorgeous vintage style furnishings.
Really nice stone villa, great and quite location, very close to Mystras archeological site and other villages with beautiful hiking trails around the mountains! Highly recommend it!
Charming hotel in a small village with a fabulous restaurant on site. Amazing hiking and historical sites nearby. We felt very lucky to have found this little charm.
This is an excellent all-around resort hotel. Modern, clean, excellent location and food in a perfect location for anyone wanting to visit the Mystras ancient sites.
Everything!
Patty and Maria are so nice and informative.
The hotel is kind of a well renovated manor.
Internal garden, lovely rooms, very clean and very high level.
one of the best apartments we experienced during 10 days trip to the Peloponesos. An isolated house in a middle of an orchard. Close to Mystras. Very friendly host.
