Perth used to be the capital of Scotland and has obviously been a very wealthy city. I would have loved to have seen it then.
Unfortunately it is now much like many cities and very run down.
Most things in Scotland are beautiful and I was really looking forward to Perth but found that the surrounding areas were much better than the City centre. So sorry as I would have loved to have said it was great.
Glasgow and Edinburgh are obviously big vibrant cities and I expected Perth to just have a little of this.

We were too early in the year for a number of attractions unfortunately. Come after the end of March. However, the Black Watch Museum was excellent especially if in to military history. You can have a guided tour which is very very informative, excellent in fact.
The restaurant, Kisas, was very good.

A small/compact City.
A small/compact City. Historic and the New Museum is fantastic. There are many independent shops as well as the shopping centre. Plenty of good eateries and coffee shops.
well placed for walking or cycling the river has footpaths along it and is well maintained. A lively theatre/live event scene too.

We were in Perth for one night only to see the Dnipro Opera Company from Ukraine perform La Boheme at the city's concert hall. But the city is well known to us.
Parts of Perth are looking a little down at heel these days but it is still a pleasant city to visit with lots of facilities and good eateries.
We ate at the excellent Both3rs Italian restaurant before the opera. Good value and delicious food.

People are friendly, the mix of old buildings and modern ones are great, city centre could do with a big investment, lots of empty premises, if you want a haircut, nails done or a fast food takeout then you have plenty to choose from.
Sam is a fantastic host who went the extra mile to make sure we got the most out of our overnight stay in Perth. Sam recommended some places to eat in the city and places to go if we wanted to have a little walk around. The breakfast we had was one of the best myself and partner have had during our road trip around Scotland with the personal touch of a fruit salad starter and fresh baked bread. If we ever stay in Perth again we will be looking to stay here again.
We received a warm and friendly welcome from Anne and David. The room was very spacious and beautifully decorated and fitted out. Loved having a fridge in the room with fresh milk offered, armchairs to relax in, and the comfiest bed of our tour of Scotland. Breakfast was also the best of the trip, especially loved the fresh fruit. Very much appreciated the advance restaurant recommendation, everything worked out perfectly. Hope we have a chance to stay again.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in, polite friendly efficient staff, the room was clean and spacious, the food was incredibly reasonably priced and very good. My Mother and father met here at a dance in the sixties so there are three children and four grandchildren ( so far) thankful to the "Sally" as it's called in Perth. To any visitors the history of the hotel is incredible having operated continuously since 1664. Highly recommended.
We use Sky Lodge as our de facto launch point for the rest of Scotland and the return home. Big rooms, comfortable beds, breakfast though continental is excellent in a clean and well laid out canteen. The site is interesting as it's a working airfield, and there are some excellent walks on your doorstep. There is a nice little cafe on the airfield that does a cooked breakfast if you want one. Super value.
Sam is a fantastic host. One of the best host we ever had. She was very charming and cooked us a very delicious and elegant breakfast! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed. We would definitely stay at Sam’s again if we ever came back to Perth. Thank you Sam for an amazing stay for our family!
Location was great, right in the heart of Perth; host communications were impeccable, and the flat was gorgeous, spacious, beautifully decorated, very clean and very comfortable. The little extras in the fridge were a welcome bonus. Thanks for a great stay.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in the UK. The food and drinks are exceptionally good. The grounds and location are beautiful. I will definitely be staying again. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Thanks.
Susan, the owner, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The breakfast in the morning was great. She makes the delicious marmalade and jam. The location is walking distance from the Perth bus and train station.
This was a stop on our way home after 2 weeks in Scotland. It provided spacious accommodation in a lovely location. The lounges are large and comfortable
I have visited this hotel for over 17 years through work and have never had a bad stay; the staff are great and the rooms are really good for the price!
