Great location on Chapel Street. Restaurants, Tesco & shopping within walking distance. Really helpful and friendly staff. Option for cooked breakfast comes with the cost of the room + coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, and cereal items too. Friendly and helpful staff. Front desk helped us get a taxi, which was very nice. Overall good experience.

Fabulous town, it’s got culture, it’s got architecture, it’s got a great rugby club, it’s got a busy harbour’ it’s got great cafes and restaurants, a stunning promenade and a lot more besides!
Check out what’s going on at The Acorn Theatre which is brilliant.
For a shortish trip see what’s on at The Minack. Best beaches are Sennen, Porthcurno, the Lelant ones, the St. Ives ones, Hayle Towans and Praa Sands. Perranuthnoe beach is good at low tide.
Go to St Ives by train - the view from St Erth into St Ives is breathtaking !

Glad we got tickets for the Minack Theatre and explored the Gobal Telecommunications Museum, took the Coaster bus several tiimes, including to Land's End and walked the Coastal path to Sennen. Enjoyed the Penlee art gallery, especially in the midst of reading "Summer in February." Enjoyed a meal at the oldest pub, and at the Longboat Inn. The staff at the Info Centre were the best - gave us so many tips and set us on the right buses.

i like walking on the promenade, along to Newlyn, took the Mounts Bay coast path to Marazion, took the bus to Trengwainton gardens- lovely to see the magnolias, rhododendrons and camellias - interesting walks round the gardens and a lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food.
Visited Trewidden gardens by bus and also took the train to St. Ives- a lovely scenic run along the coast.
Penzance town has a nice selection of shops and it is worth exploring the back streets and the area round Chapel street. On previous visits have been to the Morrab gardens and other parks. Penzance is easy to walk round, has a good bus service and the tourist information staff are very knowledgable and helpful.

Went in the end of February, it was a quiet time with everything closing by 10pm, and last buses leaving early, but it's just as lovely if not more so as any other time of the year could be. Even for hiking, if you get ready for the wind, the rain, the fog, the mud and the cold.

We came in February so not very busy.
We came in February so not very busy. Many places to walk around, lovely garden in the center of town. Great beach, St Michael's Mount very close by. St Ives also not far away. Great place as a bae to see Cornwall.
The building from the outside is good and it is a listed building and I should have been more careful before selecting this hotel but I was tricked by previous reviews. View from first room was ok, second room was good, but that is the only thing you can like about this old building.
Restaurant is also fine with variety of food options.
One outstanding thing is the Reception staff which is welcoming, caring & knowledgeable and provided recommendations for the restaurants in Penzance and some places for us to visit. 5 stars for them.
+ The location couldn't be better; it's literally right behind the Penzance train station and bus terminal, in the heart of the city centre.
+ I appreciated having a side entrance to come and go, so I didn't have to tromp through the pub lobby every time I went in and out of my room.
+ Fantastic tea service, with local Cornish tea *and* instant coffee, *and* hot chocolate! This was a treat to come back to in the evenings.
+ Outlets conveniently located by the nightstands and the desk.
+ Comfy bed.
Lovely staff - Joe helped us with our cases, made sure we had a table for dinner, worked the bar in the evening and made exceptional coffee to go with our cooked-to-order breakfast in the morning. The grilled seabass I had for dinner was truly the best I have had in years - cooked to perfection - and my husband's fish and chips was wonderful too. The location of this hotel is perfect to catch the Scillonian ferry, and a short walk from the Penzance train station. Totally satisfied.
The hotel was in a great location in a quiet road on the edge of Penzance, an easy walk into town or down to the promenade. The room was comfortable with everything we needed - maybe a little small. The ensuite shower room was good and the breakfast choices great - everything thing including cereal, fruit, yoghurt and a cooked breakfast as well. The owner had lots of very useful tips about places to visit, where best to park and places to eat tin the evening.
Parking available for 2 or 3 cars round the back of the hotel - opposite tennis courts, or on street with no restrictions. Great shared facilities which are ideal for bringing back a takeaway and using the glasses provided for wine etc. Huge wooden dining table.
Room perfectly clean and spacious. Great to use the TV to log into Netflix and Wi-Fi works perfectly.
A great place to stay in Penzance. We'll be back again to further explore coastal areas.
Everything! The experience was absolutely first class! Was made to feel very welcome from Making the initial booking right up to checking out, Marc and the staff were absolutely fantastic! I travel around the country an awful lot this is by far the best hotel experience I've had now when I'm in penzance I simply wouldn't go anywhere else can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks for such a wonderful experience guys keep up the good work!.
The decor of the property, in the lounge, bedroom and staircases was just beautiful. A lot of thought has gone into it for sure. Also the service was amazing in terms of checkin process and receiving new/clean teabags and towels etc. This was our first hotel stay in Penzance and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else now that we've been here.
We had a wonderful stay at the Bay Lodge. It was the perfect location from which to explore Penzance, St Michael’s Mount, Newlyn, and Mousehole. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and Clare thought of everything that we might need. It was an easy walk from the train station and a great central location. Breakfast was yummy and made to order!
Very cosy house. The owner thought of everything, the house has all you need for the holiday with family or friends, plus it’s pet friendly.
This was our third time in Penzance, but first tending a cottage instead of hotel, and we will stick with cottage offers from now on :).
Strongly recommend!
The staff all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable.
The full English breakfast is excellent.
The pub is busy and welcoming. The value for your money is the best in Penzance, and the bus service is literally right outside the door. What more is there to say?
Quality hotel, spacious clean comfortable rooms, breakfast cooked to order, welcoming helpful staff. Old traditional hotel that had style. About a 15 minute walk from bus/rail station, but location is superb on promenade with views across to The Lizard and to Newlyn.
bright, sunny snd clean. Delicious breakfasts cooked to order with good variety snd choice. Friendly and helpful hosts. Good location for access to Western Promenade snd sea walls of Penzance and to other points in Cornwall. Plenty of parking available on street.
Just outside Penzance this great little above pub inn was perfect as a base for our Cornwall exploration. The staff was good, the breakfast was basic it with good choices. The rooms were great, each with a comfortable king bed.
Had a fantastic time, excellent hosts with great local knowledge. Room nicely furnished, extremely clean.
Great choice for breakfast. No issues with parking. Excellent location.
Would stay again if we return to Penzance.
Wonderful staff, amazing view and completely new renovated rooms. The Ship Inn and the town are both absolutely lovely places to stay - and less hectic than the main "downtown" part of Penzance. Highly recommend this Inn.
very helpful and friendly staff, nothing was to much trouble for the [ Paul in particular ]. but all staff are a credit to the hotel .The hotel holds a great position in Penzance . We will be coming back
