We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre. Did go into Paignton. Quite busy on the seafront. The pier is mainly a big arcade. We couldn't access to the end of the pier when we went . Didn't go into the shopping centre.
We did get a Chinese take away from Rickshaw Boy and ate it in the car overlooking the sea ( made a change to fish and chips) We spent the day at the Zoo which was well worth it. Saw baby orangutan amongst other animals.
We went to Totnes which is a quirky place full of boutique shops, cafes and had a lovely feel about it.

Paignton has a lovely long beach and is very safe for families ,but the tide comes up to the promenade in places, it is easy to get onto the beach, not completely sandy but still able to make sandcastles. there is lots of activities too crazy golf, kids rollercoaster etc. we ate at the hotel but there are a lot of restuarants to choose from. an awful lot of amusement arcades there. it is flat to walk around, but not too many shops around

The pier and the harbour was great, the side streets with arcades and gift shops and town looked run down and dirty nothing like it used to look years ago.
Paignton has changed so much and not for the better.

Paignton is your typical bucket and spade family holiday with amusement arcades and lots of places to eat. Wonderful beach and promenade with pier. There are many other small beaches within walking distance along the coast path including goodrington sands.
Excellent transport links for trips to Brixham and Torquay plus the famous zoo.

Paignton has a long flat beach, with plenty of gardens and a long promenade. There’s plenty of parking,(to pay)a good range of easily accessible shops from the front, and a local cinema there. The bus and train stations are very handy, and I can throughly recommend the buses, which run every 10 minutes, and gave me free access to Brixham and Torquay.A much easier option than worrying about going in the car,and the difficulties involved in finding a parking space.

Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell...
Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell (too cold to partake) and a very pleasant esplanade. Main street has too many casiono/slot machines for our taste but also plenty of bars and cafes. Henry's Bar seemed the best with more real ales than the others.
Paignton bus station is a hub for transport to neighbouring towns, such as Totnes and Brixham, and including Exeter and Plymouth further afield. Also a regular train service to Exeter and beyond (Teignmouth and Dawlish especially). Steam trains to KIngswear for Dartmouth on selected days (Note: buy a return ticket even if you plan to only go one way by train as it covers the ferry crossing both ways). Great fish restaurants in Brixham by the harbour.
Breakfast was excellent so much choice to choose from English fry to cereals, fruit and cooked freshly was superb, having a fridge and cool fan in the bedroom for this time of the year in July was excellent!!!
Friendly family run hotel, Molly was nice and cute dogs.
Location is like my second home, where my Grandparents lived in Paignton so I've been visiting Paignton since I was a child of eight years old.
I love the hotel right near the beach, Vue Cinema and town. It has everything here! I'd definitely recommend staying here.
The location is perfect for families, really close proximity to the beach, park, pier, restaurants pubs and fair which the kids loved. The communal areas were bright and cleaned regularly and the covid measures in place in the hotel made us feel safe. The staff in general were nice and friendly. Gardens were well maintained and the general atmosphere in the hotel was lovely. Bus stop right outside hotel and train station within walking distance. Great atmosphere in Paignton in general, a proper Devon seaside holiday destinations
The breakfast was very nice, you could have a full English, or any combination.
The room and hotel were very clean. The room
overlooked Paignton sea front with a lovely view, it was plenty big enough and had everything we needed. The hotel is right by the sea front in an ideal position. It was very very busy on the Saturday we arrived, but you can escape the crowds by visiting the lovely quiet beach just around the corner. We enjoyed a meal at TJ's restaurant overlooking the sea on the terrace.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay.Only had a short walk to beach and fun fair straight across from hotel which shut down at 9pm for you early birds I'd suggest a room at the rear.We ate at the Palace Hotel on first evening which wasn't to our liking but it seemed busy throughout the week. This was our first holiday in Devon and the Palace pulled us to paighton which is great with lots to keep the whole family busy definitely would reccomend this Hotel and paighton.
The hosts left us a little welcome pack, the cottage was immaculate and nothing was too much trouble if needed any questions answering. The cottage is literally a 10 minute stroll from Paignton station, the beach and town centre. There is a car park a one minute walk away and you can buy 4/8 or monthly passes from the council or pay £8.50 per 24 hours. Would definitely stay here again as brilliant location to travel around the Devon coast
Nothing. The place was not as described. We had to leave and find somewhere else to stay. (The Queens Hotel, Paignton as it happens, which was fine).
I am not particularly fussy when it comes to hotels, but The Parkers Arms was by far the worst place I've seen. I've been regularly booking hotels with Booking.com for around 15 years, and never left a bad review until now.
I'm amazed Booking.com allow them on the platform TBH.
We stayed in the premier double with sea view on the 1st floor and it was amazing. Floor to ceiling windows with a great view, a superking bed which was comfy, lots of storage, iron, ironing bored, hairdryer and large safe.
The bathroom had a nice hot powerful shower.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was spotless.
We took our dog who was welcomed by all and I would not hesitate to return to this hotel.
Our stay here was made all the more pleasant by the brilliant staff. The hotel is full of traditional charm and is not only good value, it has quality well trained staff and good food. The car park on our visit was quiet and adequate as well as being free.
The restaurant has the best view in Paignton. We were given a room with a balcony overlooking the sea which was a bonus.
Don't just take my word, give it a try.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you needed for a short stay. Dave and Kelly were very friendly and helpful. Just a short walk into town and a perfect location as a base for exploring Devon. Parking on site. Dog friendly. We have a large dog and there was enough room for her in the apartment. Paignton itself is very dog friendly too. Excellent value for money.

Perfectly located for Goodrington and Paignton. It's on a steep road so be aware if this might be a problem for you. Room we were in was compact, as was the ensuite but it was just enough for a short stay. Breakfast was good with fruit, cereal, juice and a cooked choice. Owners were available without being intrusive.
Property was very clean & in a good location. Food and entertainment was great the staff couldn’t be more friendly nothing was too much trouble.
Will be staying again in April 2023 when one of my grandsons is getting married at Paignton Vista which is a stone’s throw away.
Would recommend this hotel.
Location a few hundred yards from paignton seafront promenade and the main shopping area, library rail and bus links. The hotel was super clean. Beautiful views across paignton seafront. Good value for money.
