The Angel Hotel, hotel in New Alresford

Situated in the heart of Hampshire, The Angel Hotel is just 20 minutes’ drive from historic Winchester. The hotel has a cosy ale bar, a traditional restaurant and rooms with free Wi-Fi.

Lovely location. We stayed in a room with a view over the back fields, so got to see a lovely sunset in the evenings. Facilities and cleanliness of the room were good. Accessible and good amount of free parking just outside.

Lane End Cottage, hotel in New Alresford

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Lane End Cottage is situated in Ovington, 25 km from Ageas Bowl and 28 km from The Mayflower Theatre.

The Cottage was exactly as pictured on Booking.com. My family needed a very quiet bolt hole which was clean and had good wifi to recharge our batteries in the middle to a hectic trip. This is exactly what we got. The hosts are extremely warm and friendly. The location is absolutely tranquil. There was adequate off road parking for a large van. We got to have a river-side evening walk before a peaceful nights sleep. The cottage was very clean with every amenity considered. We even had a recommendation for breakfast the following day. The price is as you would expect for the area and worth every penny.

Very clean and comfortable - the smell of the room made me feel like I was in a spa! Loved the extra touches (tea and coffee facilities) and soaps. Very accommodating to letting me have a later check out time so I could sleep after my night shift! I would 100% love to stay again (when not working!) Was lovely to sit on the terrace to eat dinner in the sun.

The Woolpack Inn, hotel in New Alresford

Set in a beautiful listed building, the 4-star Woolpack Inn has a creative restaurant and leafy beer garden. It sits in scenic Hampshire countryside, between Winchester and Basingstoke.

The Woolpack Inn is a wonderful and authentic Inn. The location and facilities of the Inn were superb. Lots of parking space, easily reachable and with lovely terrace. The bar looked cozy and had tons of drinks and beers. We really enjoyed our breakfast, it was freshly made and a fine combination between a regular European breakfast and a British accent. What we also loved was the fact that all the produce and ingredients were (day) fresh, because you have to indicate which days you'd like to have breakfast. We didn't have dinner at the Woolpack Inn, however judging on the menu and how fresh the breakfast was, dinner promises to be good as well. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Fairly young and modern as well, which gave a nice vibe to the place. It seemed like there were interns at work as well, and they were treated with respect, humor and professionally, in order to have them learn and have fun at the same time. Wonderful to see and experience. We would definitely recommend the Woolpack Inn to friends and family and should we return to this part of the UK, we would definitely stay at the Woolpack Inn again.

The 2 staff members who checked me in were really nice but the staff member I spoke to a couple times during my stay was very unhelpful. The room was also quite spacious.

We visited New Alresford as we were going on the Watercress Line for the Christmas Illuminations experience. The town itself is small but beautiful and we enjoyed a little stroll around despite the fact that Covid restrictions are in place.

New Alresford is a small town with walks to the river and a traditional steam railway. So near to winchester with a good bus service. Relaxing, individual shops and a great place to relax. There is a good choice of restaurants and pubs. I would consider staying in New Alresford again and using public transport to get to winchester.

Loved the decor! The room was large and very comfortable and the bathroom was massive (we had the accessible room so not sure all rooms would have the same size bathroom). The shampoo/body wash/conditioner/body lotion also deserve a mention as they were good quality with nice scents. The hotel is in a great location to explore the town. Breakfast was amazing, the restaurant and bar are were also very comfortable and beautifully decorated.

We loved New Alresford location. Also apartment was amazing and really well equiped, and quiet, and literally a few metres away from the main street. Perfect location. Also the host went out of their way to help swap over the apartment key after we left the wrong key behind. Sorry :)
