The Bell Inn is several miles from Lyndhurst in the beautiful New Forest; lovely walks over heath and woodland and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter ponies, donkeys and pigs roaming free locally; drive carefully!

Lyndhurst is a great place to stay for exploring the New Forest. It has a good mix of interesting shops and restaurants and a good sized car-park in the centre.
That said, it can get very busy and there can be traffic queues in high-season since it is a bit of a bottleneck. So I'd recommend visiting slightly off-season.

What let it down for us was the lack of options for gluten free breakfast no cereals no fruit no yogurts then when we did get breakfast it was cold toast rock hard it wasn’t even busy only us two for breakfast
We wanted to order gluten free fish and chips but fryer broken so was limited on evening options but what we did order was tasty I must say I was impressed by the staff knowledge on g/f intolerance and allergies.

Lyndhurst has some interesting shops particularly the antiques emporium and some nice pubs and restaurants and the Anglican church of St Michael's where the original Alice who was the model for ''Alice in Wonderland''was buried.
I went to the Passage to India Indian restaurant which is quite near to the Penny Farthing hotel.
There is a Ferrari showroom if you want to check them out but the cars are very expensive.

It is a lovely village, full of character.
It is a lovely village, full of character. It was the fourth, or fifth, time we have stayed in, or around, Lyndhurst. There are great shops, cafe's, restaurants and pubs. It is small enough to comfortably walk around. We ate in "The Forage, which is a modern Italian style restaurant with a very good menu selection. The only issue is that Lyndhurst is a focal point for all the roads into and out of the NewForest, which often leads to long traffic queues into and out of the village. However, the main road through is one way, which makes it easier for pedestrians to cross.
This was our second visit to the Crown Manor and we weren't disappointed. Our room was very comfortable and whilst not over large, was well decorated and furnished and very cosy and warm for a winter stay. Bathroom has been upgraded and was stylish. Great breakfast - plenty of choice. Good location for strolling into Lyndhurst with a good range of restaurants, cafes and pubs. Also easy parking at the hotel. Will definitely visit again.
The accommodation was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and helpful and went out of there way to provide us with an early light breakfast as we requested. The hotel allows dogs to stay which is great for families who want to stay with their pets.
We will definitely stay at this hotel again when in Lyndhurst.
Although the staff worked hard there seem to be no one in charge! Waited a long time to be served at the bar as only one person serving. First day no one took our breakfast order second day order was taken but forgot to bring it out!
Hotel was nice but I would recommend booking somewhere nearby in Lyndhurst for food.
Staff, in particular Jake, friendly and very efficient. The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were nice and comfortable. Slept like a log. Cooked breakfast was lovely-the mushroom in particular cooked and seasoned to perfection. Hotel is in an excellent position on the main street in Lyndhurst.
The hotel staff were very welcoming and remembered that my partner wanted to watch F1 (mentioned when we booked in ) and put it in for him on the bar TV. Room was lovely and clean and brilliant value for money. Easy to walk into Lyndhurst and a big car park and restaurant. Excellent stay
Everything about Spot in the Woods was excellent. The location, hotel decor and room was beautiful. The staff are so friendly and attentive. They couldn't be more helpful. The food is delicious. The surrounding area is stunning. It was a very relaxing stay. We would highly recommend it.
The location was fabulous, within easy walking distance from Lyndhurst and The New Forest. There were paths from the property directly into the forest and horses and deer were often seen on those walks. The breakfast was lovely.
As a single traveler this hotel was welcoming and safe. I stayed in a single room which was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was really good. Would recommend a stay.
We love staying at Bartley Lodge as it’s a small cosy hotel with great staff and very well located for the New Forest. Dinner quality was great. Breakfast is lovely but could have a bit more variety.
Very pleasant hotel within walking distance of Lyndhurst. Friendly staff, nice outside seating area to enjoy a drink from the bar. Comfortable bed and nice sized bathroom. Good breakfast.
All staff were friendly welcoming and attentive. Room was a good size and clean and location of hotel was excellent just 300 metres to town. Breakfast and service was good.
Very clean, comfortable hotel and stylish bedroom. Comfy bed and pillows. Very friendly staff and good food. Great location for New Forest and ample parking on site.
Free car parking on site. Good shower. Comfy bed. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Interesting old hotel. Pleasant garden. 2-for-1 cocktails from 3-6 pm
