The Rampant Horse Public House, hotel in Gateley

Set in Fakenham and with Houghton Hall reachable within 16 km, The Rampant Horse Public House offers a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

I was just looking for a simple, comfortable and economical place to lay my head after attending a function nearby. From this point of view the rooms above this pub fitted the bill perfectly. Clean, with a comfortable bed, storage space and fridge, tea, coffee, orange juice & breakfast cereals. Shared bathroom facilities not a problem at this price, and considering the small number of rooms. Free private car park. No cooked breakfast offered but plenty of options close by.

FIELDVIEW FARMHOUSE BED AND BREAKFAST, a property with a garden, is situated in Colkirk, 16 km from Houghton Hall, 32 km from Blickling Hall, as well as 17 km from Castle Acre Castle.

The room was clean, comfortable and furnished to a high standard. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a real treat - better than a lot of hotels we have stayed at. The location was quiet and calm, with a view of a donkey out of the bedroom and breakfast room windows - who wouldn't want that (OK, maybe that is just me!)?

Hosts were very friendly ,breakfast was great, room comfortable ,great views from the rooms. No TV . Very remote and no passing areas in the lanes on the approach road ,hard to find in the dark when returning from a meal . As we only stayed for 1 night we never went to the village. If we stayed again it would be spring or summer time when the evenings were light.
