Beautiful hotel in perfect location. Stayed in the newer section - room was immaculate, modern, great amenities. Bath robe & slippers really nice touch! Wish our stay could have been longer than 1 night.
The 4-star Principal York, formerly The Royal York Hotel, is set in quiet gardens, with views into the new Garden Room overlooking York Minster.

From parking the car to walking into the Principle we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were all fantastic. Our room was spotless and a good size. The towels and bedding were excellent. The welcome tray was good quality and replenished daily. The toiletries were nice especially the hand/body lotion.
The spa area was also good and again spotless.
Location is perfect.
We have already recommended to friends.
We will definitely be back.

Lovely big room with a large bathroom. King size bed!!
Perfect location just outside the walls. Delicious full English along with a continental buffet.
Staff was perfect, friendly and very helpful!
Overlooking the spectacular York Minster, this elegant Georgian residence is set in the heart of the historic center of the city, just a short walk from medieval streets lined with modern boutiques.
A boutique Art Nouveau hotel in historic York. Minutes from the heart of the city, overlooking the Knavesmire Strays, lies the Elmbank Hotel, a unique 19th-century mansion with a rich history.

Great location for a stay within striking distance to York & outlet shopping centre. Bus runs every 15mins direct through village to both locations, literally takes no more than 20min. Good pub in grounds of Parsonage hotel & a Thai restaurant that also does takeout, excellent food at both.

We have stayed at the parsonage 4 times and wouldn’t go back if it was rubbish.
The spa is lovely. Swimming pool, big jacuzzi , several steam rooms. The treatments were fairly priced.
The fat fryer has a great menu and again good prices.
The area (Escrick) is out of the way and unless you have a car you could be marooned. I didn’t see any busses but I understand it is on a route.
I’m looking forward to going again soon.

We liked the lovely garden surroundings which were immaculate, the lounge and conservatory where we could relax and the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was excellent.
A good bus service into York was very helpful.
The staff struggled slightly with service at breakfast time when the hotel became very busy.

The establishment was not as good as advertised.
The establishment was not as good as advertised. Definitely wouldn’t recommend or class as 4 star.
Checkin experience was rubbish as did not have the room ready for check in time given on website.
Spa outdated needs a refurbishment and the loungers really close to the floor (no legs on them) making it difficult getting back up from them.
Room was too hot and had to have fan on and windows open all night.
The milk was off in the room and no bin in the main room only in the bathroom.
The only good thing I can say was that the Abbott pub which was on site was very nice with great staff and lovely food and plenty of parking.
We won’t be going to this hotel and spa again as very disappointing

nothing there as far as i could tell, yorkshire water doing work right outside the hotel , did not really bother us until they switched the water off for a whole day, that is not the hotels fault but there again they should complain to the water company as it happens quite often according to staff. on the whole disappointed with visit.

Slightly disappointing as it looked amazing venue.
Slightly disappointing as it looked amazing venue. It could be spectacular but the receptionist struggled to smile and took ages to do things, breakfast tepid, carpets a bit grubby and had 1980s feel to it
Buffet breakfast had a good choice each morning, and the cooked food was hot. Fruit salads and pastries were well prepared and fresh. Location was excellent, we left the car at the hotel and used the frequent bus service to York which has a stop just down the road from the hotel. Beds were extremely comfy, and a fan was also provided for the September heatwave we were lucky enough to get. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. The pub restaurant provided lovely meals and a varied menu.
Great location easy to access York and surrounding area. Big Tesco Extra a few miles up the road. Easy to access park and ride for York £5.50 family return ticket on bus. Had a great little track which you could go for a morning run for 20 mins to an hour. Breakfast was great. Louise who worked in breakfast room was lovely and helpful. Lady who cleaned the hotel was super friendly. Rooms were fine and I could log into Netflix too bonus !
Lovely stay at the Parsonage Hotel, booked because of the pool and spa area which was great and used each day. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice. Room was quite big and shower clean with great water pressure and products. Setting was great, 20 minutes into York on the bus (bus stop outside, £2 each way), and reasonable taxi fare into York (£9 Uber). Staff on Reception very helpful. Excellent Thai restaurant next door.
Lots of storage space in room, we had a twin room which wasn't in the main hotel building. There was a kettle with tea and coffee, iron and ironing board, a fan and a hairdryer. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower. The location was perfect for us as we were attending an open day at York University and it was also just down the road from a designer shopping outlet. Plenty of parking at the hotel.
This is a great hotel on the main bus route into the city of York. It has an added bonus of having a spa and a gym, of which I used both. The spa was open till 9 pm too which was great after a long day walking around the city. The Fat Abbot restaurant which is in the grounds of the hotel seems to be a hit for its food. My chicken and leek pie was particularly tasty.
The bed was very comfy. Large bathroom with shower over the bath. Lovely soft fluffy towels and Elemis shower gel and body/hand lotion. Tea/coffee in room. Lovely spa with pool, jacuzzi and 4 different hot rooms. Buffet breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Bus stop into York a very short walk away which goes via the Designer Outlet.
I've stayed here several times and like the hotel. The beds are comfortable and the ensuite very clean and modern. Buffet breakfast was included which made the price reasonable overall. The pool facilities are very nice and relaxing.
The best spa facilities and pool I've been to so far(and I've been to a lot)lovely church next door, and public transport a 5 minute walk away, which takes you to a designer outlet(10 minutes)or into the centre of york(20 minutes)
Stayed here about a dozen times now and it always exceeds expectations. Hotel, spa, location is fab. Dinner in the Fat Abbot was lovely too. Staff are very friendly, all in all a lovely place.
The staff were very kind, welcoming and helpful all throughout our stay. Great location, 9 minutes from York central via taxi. Spa and pool were fantastic. Food was really nice too.
We stayed one night after attending a funeral wake at the venue. The catering at the wake was excellent. The hotel has character, with a relaxed ambience.
