I liked everything about Thatchers Bar & Restaurant. We were really surprised on seeing the hotel on our arrival because the price we paid was just £56 per night for two including breakfast so we were expecting it would be a budget hotel. It had looked nice on the Booking.com photos but they didn't do it full justice as it is a beautiful building and an exceptional place to stay. East Horsley is beautiful and quaint with all the old flint buildings. The rooms throughout the hotel were all very nicely furnished. The bar and dining area was spacious and comfortable and the outside dining area was nicely set out and lovely to sit out there in the evening sun. We really enjoyed the full English breakfasts and the evening meal was divine! All the staff were friendly and smiling and nothing seemed too much to ask. We will definitely be returning in the future and because it was so enjoyable will look at using the Surya Hotels in other parts of the country too.
Amid quiet, extensive Surrey parkland, De Vere Horsley Estate offers guests free access to its leisure facilities, including croquet lawn, football pitch, gym and indoor swimming pool.

Very enjoyable apart from the wind blowing our table over! That wasn’t your fault it just caused a “we shan’t forget going to Woodlands”

Staff were fabulous. Upgraded me to thier spa room because I wanted a bathroom and there wasn't one in my allocated room. Great breafast on offer, which was huge. Kitchen staff wrapped up what I couldn't manage, so that I could take it away for lunch.
I was there for work so didn't get chance to explore the area but the hotel is set in fabulous countyry-side.
I was visiting my parents, so not as a tourist.
There are lovely walks nearby and the roads are popular with cyclists.
The local shops (those at walking distance from the hotel) are friendly
You can get a good Indian meal at Yasmin.
The Italian Cafe/Deli (Annare?) is good, with some tempting treats. It's very popular and rightly so.
There are buses to Guildford. It's quite a distance to the railway station, and don't expect a lot of taxis.
The Duke of Wellington pub does good meals and drinks and has lots of outdoor seating.

My room was taty and not very clean. Bathroom came with a broken sink and after I flushed the toilet had to wait 3 minutes for the water from the tap. The carpet on the corridor was held together with gaffer tape. The whole place had a very dated feel. Not worth the money.

I was only here for two nights as I was there to watch a local Showcase that was held in a little theatre called the Nomad Theatre. What an excellent way to spend a few hours. Lovely area, lovely theatre.

East Horsley is a convenient place to stay with many places to visit in the surrounding areas.
The Surrey Hills are very picturesque. Guildford is close by and I would recommend taking the park and ride which is en-route from the hotel. RHS Wisley is stunning and I would also recommend a visit to Pyrford Lock and Dorking.
Staff were very helpful, especially Romanian lady on reception, who gave us fan and extra towels. Breakfast was good. Our room was fine although I heard another guest moan about the state of theirs, which the receptionist arranged to move them. This hotel has great potential to be better than it is. Lovely gardens .
I have stayed at this hotel a few times. They always ask for card even if you have already paid which irritates me. Unfortunately my stay was cancelled by the hotel. They are still open but are refurbishing. When they cancelled, You still seemed to be able to book a room but at double the price. Not very helpful.
This stunning period dwelling is immense with charm and delivers on quality throughout. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful and breakfast is outstanding with an amazing choice.
I’ve stayed in many hotels but this one ranks very high and I would recommend it without question.
The area is stunning and a short walk around gives the feeling of why the hotel is such an amazing centre piece for the village. The staff were brilliant.. we were so well looked after and the kind professionalism was very much appreciated.
The staff were very helpful and accommodated my needs including a very early check out with a take away breakfast. Room was ample with a nice shower and the hotel is directly on a main road so easy for travel (but my room was not noisy).
Location was rural but within reach of many attractions so best of both worlds. Bed very comfortable and breakfast more than adequate. Hotel was quiet although being quite busy. Good value for money.
The hotel is in a nice location and perfect for our planned trip. The room was a decent size for the three of us (2 adults 1 child).
The food was good, value for money overall.
