Lovely big room with lots of storage space, comfortable, enormous bed and a modern bathroom with two sinks, which helped two people get ready for the day at the same time. Breakfast was great - lovely cooked food, good choice of cereal. Dinner was excellent and seemed to be very good value when compared to a pub meal we had another night. All staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed. Location was very scenic and also convenient for Dumfries, and there were some lovely walks close by which, if we'd had more time, we would have liked to explore. Good, well-placed car park. Easy drop-off at the front door.

Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Dumfries is a mecca for all things Rabbie Burns; it boasts the site of his original grave, a Burns museum, the house where he last resided, his local pub and more besides. The people of Dumfries are exceptionally friendly and the town is steeped in history. The River Nith provides a romantic backdrop which is very atmospheric at night. Dumfries is easily accessible by road and rail and easy to get around. There are some very characterful places to visit and with more visitors, the variety of places to eat and drink will surely increase.

A lovely river walk took you into town if you wanted a longer walk along the river into town. Free parking was available at the side of the hotel, Lovely bedrooms, clean, well equipped with TV, tea and coffee machine etc. with a large ensuite shower room. Breakfast was excellent in both quality and value and the staff were happy to give information, and recommendations of places to see and visit.

Everything that Portpatrick did wrong, Best Western Station Hotel did right. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional and accommodating. Despite the building itself being old it was well maintained and my room was very spacious and comfortable. I don't have a single complaint about my stay here.
