Unfortunately we arrived quite late so not really able to explore the village, though we did have a walk around the grounds of the Abbey. We would have liked to visit the Astin Martin museum though found out it was actually closed on Sundays. Very interesting historic village.
Very interesting historic village. Little through traffic thanks to the bypass so quiet. Dorchester Abbey is well worth a visit. Lovely walks all around, lots of footpath signs. A 10 minute easy walk brings you to the bypass where you can catch a frequent bus service into Oxford/Wallingford, and the buses run until early morning!Lloyd613United Kingdom - 10Scored 10

It was our first visit there and we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this village was, full of old traditional charm and quaint cottage style houses. There were a few pubs there offering a variety of food and drinks. We really enjoyed the fish platter at The George Inn as their Friday offer. We had a pleasant walk around the village and visited the Old Abbey.

The rooms, renovated in 2022, are very comfortable and well finished. Many of the rooms are based on themes with local connections which adds to the charm. The hotel has been a location for TV shows such as Midsummer Murders and Miss Marple and this is reflected in some of the names. The staff are also genuine and friendly which also contributed to an enjoyable stay.
