Breakfast was excellent. Good selection of buffet style and excellent choice of cooked items. All tables were very clean and an attractive setting. The restaurant staff were delightful and welcoming. I would like to say that Emma was friendly and a great boon to the hotel.

Locally produced food. Room extremely comfortable. Bathroom very large and clean. The decor is beautiful Art Deco style and the pub is decorated very nicely.

Even though it was next to the m1, we could not tell. The rooms were dark and quiet. The staff were fab and attentive, the rooms comfy and the food great!

Good location gor our trip.
Good location gor our trip. Room large but could do with a refresh. Disappointed at paying full price when an 18th birthday party was taking place which disturbed our sleep. Lovely food and the waitress was very attentive. No manager appeared to be on the premises and not heard back with regards to complaint.

There wasn't much to Clay Cross that we we saw and we didn't look around the area particularly. Mostly rural but a static mobile home park was close by. Easy to find using a sat nav., just avoid the bike riders - of which there were quite a few.

Our hotel was situated a few miles outside Clay Cross at the hamlet of Wooley Moor. We visited Clay Cross on two occasions once to dine at the Three Horseshoes [excellent] and secondly to shop at the Tesco Extra store situated in the town centre, We particularly liked the unrestricted free parking available in the town centre.
Good sized room, clean and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was attractive and well maintained and had a very relaxed and pleasant vibe. Nice, home cooked food. Great place to stay for a relaxing break. Very dog friendly too. About 5 miles from Matlock but a lovely drive to get there so we viewed this as a bonus.
Lovely welcoming characterful country hotel feel with good facilities. The food was excellent and filling and there was a good selection of beers to choose from. The room was warm, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had everything you need. The staff were helpful and polite.
The accommodation is very good, spotlessly clean, well appointed and with beautiful views of the Derbyshire landscape. The choice and quality of meals is excellent. The Dales, Matlock and Chatsworth House in easy driving distance making this a good location for exploring in the region.
It was perfectly located for Stretton Manor Barn for a wedding we were attending. As we were staying with our 14 year old daughter, it was nice that she was able to have her own room but still be next to us. This wouldn’t have been possible in a standard hotel.
Beautiful spacious room with fabulous view, very comfortable bed and an enormous spotless bathroom.
Friendly helpful staff.
Brilliant large breakfast.
Excellent evening meal and service.
Overall a country pub that thinks and feels like a 5 star hotel
It is a clean and comfortable accommodation. It looks like I stay in a hotel and resort with five stars. Victoria is a great host with her husband. She welcomes us and is so friendly. It is excellent car parking which is in front of the door.
Spent the night while attending a wedding at the hotel. The wedding was very well catered for and it was lovely just to walk down the corridor to bed after the disco. The breakfast was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful throughout.
Loved it. The location is great for exploring Derbyshire and the rooms are extraordinarily comfortable. On top of this the service and food are fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough.
