Hunters Lodge Inn, hotel in Bruton

This hotel offers en suite rooms with a large LCD TV, double-size power showers and free Wi-Fi. It is located 500 yards off the A303, just outside the racing town of Wincanton.

The location was great for what we wanted to do. Close enough to Bath, for which we used a park and ride, and not far from Longleat safari park. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. We managed to book the last table for dinner on the Saturday evening, but do book in advance if you want food as the tables go quickly. On the Saturday evening they were packed out with various family parties and big groups, despite this, food was served very quickly and staff were all very pleasant and attentive. We also heard nothing from our room, despite all the restaurant noise. Our room was bigger than expected and we spent a very comfortable 2 nights there. Would definitely stay again.

I didn't really visit the town of Bruton but it is very convenient for Stourhead National Trust. I highly recommend a visit to the Hauser & Wirth art gallery located in old farm buildings just outside Bruton, with a bar and grill, designer garden and farm shop and plenty of parking.

It’s a pretty village with lots of independent shops and high quality restaurants. We arrived during a heatwave so it seemed rather quiet and shut up so perhaps not quite the vibrant place we were expecting.

We loved Matts Kitchen, a cooling glass of wine at the Cellarhand, and of course the fabulous Hauser & Wirth, which currently has the Henry Moore exhibition, the gardens and The Roth looked amazing.

Bruton is a quintessentially English town in the stunningly beautiful countryside county of Somerset. There are many fascinating areas for picturesque walks - both short and long. There are excellent restaurants locally including a delightful one at the Old Red Lion. Galleries and craft shops to browse in too.

Not a great deal to do in Bruton, restaurant's were difficult to book in to however, I was put off by their prices and the whole taster menu thing. Good pub in the middle of Bruton, the Sun Inn, friendly staff and decent beer and food.
