Location was great for us, we got to explore the Cotwolds easily. It is close to Cheltenham too. The room was quiet, clean and bathroom had a great shower. Continental breakfast was also good with nice options.

As a village, Birdlip has no other facilities; it isn’t a big place and it seems many villages in the Cotswolds don’t have so much as a corner shop. Birdlup is no exception. But that’s not what it’s about. The village is very conveniently placed for visiting many of the attractions in the Cotswolds; Gloucester is only a few minutes drive away, Cirencester is not far. There are numerous parks, beauty spots, and places to enjoy nature nearby ( driving distance). There are numerous National Trust sites within a 30 mile radius and transport links (Birdlip is just off the A417) are good. Warwickshire, Worcestershire, even the eastern borders of Wales aren’t too far away. Birdlip is a reasonably attractive village and there are some public footpaths leading out into the lovely Cotswolds countryside for those able and willing to do some walking. It is a hilly area though, so expect some exertion to be necessary.
At night, traffic in Birdlip seems to be pretty much non existent, and although the A417 is close by, traffic noise just drops off to the faintest of levels; we had our bedroom window wide open and barely heard it. For this reason alone, Birdlip is an excellent place to stay so that after a day of driving to various attractions, you get back to a peaceful evening and an undisturbed sleep.
It has one pub/hotel/restaurant, the Royal George Inn, which is friendly, relaxed, welcoming and comfortable.

Birdlip is a great place for walking.
Birdlip is a great place for walking. We did 2 long walks from the village, one which involved a lot of steep hills and the other through some beautiful meadows and valleys. The countryside is stunning and we only saw a couple of other people on our walks.

It was only about 10 minutes from M5. Small pretty village but not much else there. No good unless you come by car, plenty of free parking onsite of Royal George Hotel where we stayed. They do great, reasonably priced food.

We only stayed for four nights as we had trips planned in the wider area. It does however seem a good area for walkers with lots of walks nearby. Unfortunately we only did one due to having other commitments.
Excellent location in the most picturesque part of the west Cotswolds.
The building has a comfortable & " lived-in " feel which many might find more attractive than some plastic & modernised hotels. The staff are all very friendly, happy & obliging.
Some ground floor superior rooms have rather aged wooden french windows onto a mini-patio which let in a cold draft but I am assured this is being addressed with draft excluders.
Breakfast is comprehensive & goes on to 10.00 every day which is very convenient.
Food portions were good. The staff were helpful. The room was big. The pub/hotel is an interesting architectural feature and stands well in the village. However it is next to the main road cutting through Birdlip. Birdlip is very handy for touring around the lower Cotswolds and walking the Cotswolds Way. There were lots of walkers staying at the hotel. Large free car park at the side and back. The view from the top floor bedroom window was rather nice.
Stayed overnight while visiting Gloucestershire. Was very easy to find. Double room with double bed was of general size with unexpectedly large ensuite. Breakfast was very good. Nicely cooked with excellent bread and bacon. Filled us up for another day in Cotswolds. Staff in the hotel very welcoming and friendly. Good communication after booking. We received a message from the hotel that they were waiting for us.
Friendly staff. Access easy, my room was ground floor not far from reception. Good food. Bit disappointed that bar was closed and no staff around when I came back to hotel. Must admit I didn’t check . But would’ve been nice to have the option to have any type of drink
Room came equipped with a bath in the en-suite which was a lovely bonus to the shower. My partner and I enjoyed exploring the grounds of the hotel as well. Nice beer garden. Attractive architecture of the surroundings too.
After our pre booked hotel had last minute issues, I was lucky enough to secure the last room here. Food was excellent so we ate breakfast and dinner both nights in the hotel. Staff were great and an excellent bar.
Dinner and breakfast were equal to or perhaps better than the usual high standard that we expect from Greene King pubs and hotels. This hotel is an older, character building and provides a warm atmosphere.
The breakfast was goiod, so much choice, didn't have same thing, for any off the mornings.
There was a lovely walk, easy accessible to Birdlip Viewpoint.
The staff was so friendly, and helpfull!
Birdlip is acute town and part of walking the Cotswold Way if you are doing that. This was a charming hotel. We had a nice little patio off our room which was lovely.
Spacious room with very comfortable, large bed - had a peaceful night's sleep. Nicely decorated hotel reception, bar and restaurant. Helpful and cheerful staff.
