The location is great and the cottage is very cosy. The owners were extremely kind and great to deal with. Would stay again :)

Great room and excellent evening meal - we were walking the Lady Anne Way and this was the best pub we stayed in. The pub is under new ownership and the facilities, service, room and food were all excellent

Beautiful setting, very clean and extremely comfortable. Just booked as one night stopover before onward journey to holiday destination. Only regret was that I couldn't get there earlier (due to work) to enjoy it more.
It’s up for sale and needs TLC. The bones of it are great, the staff are unfriendly and a little weird!
Young lady waitress was the exception.
We had decided on the taster menu, it was not a taster, it was three starters a main and a slightly random dessert.
No alternative to mussels, which were tough, more deep fried cheese balls swapped in.
It was all entertaining, probably due to the amount of Prosecco we had… but I wouldn’t eat there again. Worth seeing the musty internals of the dining room and the very busy gardener who became the maitre de and then played piano!

A lovely village with a castle, river, woodlands, a great park under construction and a swimming pool. There are a few nice cafes, a couple of restaurants and pubs and some lovely gift shops. We ate at the 'Crown and Cushion' pub for a traditional meal and 'The Cutting Garden Cafe' for breakfast. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Appleby is a stones throw from the Dales and the Lake District. The town itself is friendly with several options for food and drink. It does have a "small" weekly market and several independent shops. There are lots of walking trails and a haunted castle, a perfect hide away from city living.

We phoned up on the morning of our booking to confirm check in time. We were told they were cancelling our booking because they had no bed linen. They had not attempted to call and inform us. Be careful if you book this hotel

It was horrible from start to finish i had paid for 2 nights i left first thing in the morning after first night. It is nothing like the web says, one man that stunk of alcohol and bo checked us in he was also the cook and the bar man, one look at the state of the kitchen told me i wasnt eating in there, it wasnt even a bar it was a pop up with can of beer, to say i was devastated was an under statement , the bed squeeked all night with every movement, it was pitch black in the corridors we had to use the torches on our phones to find the room, do not go here

What a fantastic opportunity to stay in a truly memorable...
What a fantastic opportunity to stay in a truly memorable location. Yes the floors are uneven yes the things are old very old. The bathrooms are however up to date. You are a stones throw from town.
Staff were fantastic but stretched by the logistics a little. We had wifi other than that go to the bar the games room tv room or walk in the grounds….we loved it don’t go to a Castle if you want everything new…….I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates staying in a castle that is pretty much as it was in 1680s parts of it far older than that….. thanks for a great opportunity to stay in the awesome place
Immaculately presented cottage. Very comfortable. The cleanest we’ve ever stayed in. Very well equipped. Good WiFi and a smart TV so our daughters were happy. Some board games to help get the children off their screens. Ideally located in the center of Appleby within a few minutes walk of cafes, pubs and restaurants. 30 minutes drive from Keswick and Ullswater, 50 minutes from Grasmere. The hosts were very helpful and always responded within an hour of any questions we asked. We’d definitely return and are very happy to recommend.
Clean, homely, warm and cosy. The cottage was easy to find, we had no issues with parking in the yard and the cottage had everything we needed for a weeks stay. Collette was really helpful and responsive. Its about a half hour drive to the Lake District which was fine for us. We were there when the Appleby Horse Fair was on and although the village was much busier than normal, it was still quiet in the cottage, except for the occasional clip clop of horses hooves. Great value for money, we would return in a heartbeat.
A fantastic local pub feel and a great stay! We were in the flat on the top floor - comfortable and very well equipped - a bargain at the price and also included a really delicious breakfast in the morning. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The landlords wife even dropped us off to pick up our car, as we found ourself stranded the morning of check out (the 1 taxi driver in Appleby was on holiday!!!). Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend
When we arrived we were given an upstairs room in the adjoining building. The exterior stairs were a bit steep for me so we asked if they could change us to a ground floor room. They very kindly obliged and we were given a fabulous, large room on the ground floor with two very comfy chairs in front of the TV. The bed was large and comfortable and the shower in the bath was good. The staff were friendly and helpful and the view from the breakfast room overlooking Appleby are beautiful.
The Crown Inn is not actually in Appleby-in-Westmoreland but in the very small village of Snape. We had a large room with walk in shower. Plenty of car parking available right in front of the hotel. Excellent wifi and mobile phone signal. Our bed although comfortable was so low it was difficult to get in and out, possible due to our age. Our evening meals were really outstanding.
The Staff were very pleasant ! The hotel itself is very attractive ..the Room 21 we had was nicely decorated and clean . The double bed was very comfortable in the Bedroom ..the pull out sofa bed not so comfortable .. the bathroom was clean and of a good standard . Nice Real ale on and a good range of whisky's .The Hotel is set in an Attractive part of Appleby
We wanted an overnight stay in Appleby and this suited us down to the ground. Spotlessly clean, with an amazingly friendly host, the property was within easy walking distance of the centre of Appleby with its pubs and restaurants. The property was immaculate in every way and the breakfast cooked to perfection.
Great location, lovely kept house with everything you need for a weeks stay. Everything you needs is on your doorstep, shops, great pubs and lovely accessible walks along the river banks. Appleby is probably the best little village in the world, but that's just my opinion!
We stayed in one of the cottages on the castle grounds and it was stunning! The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed for a weekend away. We also did the tour of the Keep and the views from the top were breathtaking! Appleby village was also lovely.
Excellent cottage and great location within lovely Appleby and close to fabulous scenery. Kitchen is very well equipped and the whole place is very comfortable and yet quite spacious (for 5 of us).
Excellent location and the staff were absolutely fantastic. The evening meal was the very best and the service was superb. We stayed in the cottage at the side of the hotel which was great.
The property is situation in the middle of Appleby which is quite convenient. Though we did not go into the main portion of the property, which appeared lovely, I wish we had stayed there.
It’s a very welcoming comfortable place, yet it’s stunning too. A rare combination. Often in amazing places the staff are cool and distant but this is not the case at Appleby manor.
