An interesting, tourist-targetted, 'heritage' little town (not much more than a village really so to take it all in doesn't need more than 2 or 3 hours, depending on how long you spend in each shop; being honest the shops are all honey0traps for your Euro, I read one description of visitors described as walking wallets. My wife and I spent the afternoon in La Gacilly on our way to R-en-T and glad we did because otherwise, as we had already booked our room, we'd have struggled to find something to do; as it was we arrived 29th September and although a few bars were open when we rrived all bar one restaurant closed as it was the end of the season but fortunately, the one place that was open, 'Les Ardoisières' served superb food at reaasonable prices and great value wine in carafes. One night to stay is plenty but a nice place if you are on your way to somewhere else.

    Loved the location .

Loved the location . Road is not always open so be prepared to walk in . Staff were really helpful with parking . Staff were very friendly . The building is very old and doesn’t have 21 st century facilities but that was exactly what we were looking for. Loved the little old stairway and access in and out. We had the Moulin Rouge room , spacious.the decor was colourful but very French. Loved the old bath and the large bathroom. There was no fridge but we got ice from the bar. If you’re looking for an authentic stay in a medieval town this ticks all the boxes. Would have no problem recommending this place.

Rochefort-en-Terre is an enchanting little town, lots of lovely gift shops, bars and restaurants. We only had the afternoon and 1 night there before leaving in the morning, wish we had stayed a little longer as I understand there is a walk down by the river we would like to have done. Highly recommend this place as a little stop over if you are travelling around northern France.

The town is picturesque with beautiful flower displays in summer. The buildings were characterful and there were so many photo opportunities around the town and chateau. Plenty of restaurants and the most divine homemade ice cream! We took a walk through the countryside and down to the lake which was about 7.5 km but there were shorter ones and more challenging hikes you could choose from. I recommend staying 2 to 4 days in the area.

An unexpected treasure—a nearly intact village filled with well restored and maintained 16th, 17th and 18th c. buildings. No tasteless or intrusive signage, animal-friendly and with abundant flowers and a variety of fine artisans offering their work. The church is a glory, a great bookshop is located by the chateau entrance and there seem to be many excellent restaurants. There are also fine antique shops.

The location is perfect, staff do speak some English and on top of that they were trying hard to understand and communicate. At dinner, our waiter went the extra mile when he was using a translator on the side so that he could address us in English. By far the best hotel experience we have had in France, so far. Dinner was very nice, including a welcome drink on the house. Stuff of this hotel definitely raises the bar for customer experience for non-french speakers in France.

A very beautiful ancient building with tasteful period furniture and yet a modern bathroom. An excellent restaurant with large outside dining and of course inside if necessary. Delicious continental breakfast with freshly pressed orange juice, fresh pastries and their signature pancakes. Delightful service by all. The access to the rooms is a bit challenging . The hotel is in the heart of the prettiest village in Europe.

Quiet peaceful location by the lake. The lodge was well maintained and comfortable. I enjoyed sitting on the terrace overlooking the lake and listening to and watching the birds. It was close to the pathway around the lake and the, mainly footpath pedestrian route to Rochefort-en-Terre

Lovely old property I the centre of a picturesque village. Restaurant available, also a small terrace. Staff were lovely. I would describe this as a quant, authentic small hotel. Good value and the museum in the chateau grounds unmissable. Loved our stay there.

The location was perfect, in the centre of gorgeous Rochefort-en-Terre but away from the noise of the main streets. We left our car in the 'payant' car park which cost 6,50 Euros for the period from about 13.00 hours on the Monday to 11.30 hours the next day.

The hotel sits right in the middle of the picturesque village: it's all right there out the window. Spacious charming room, full of character (the toilet room is in a castle tower!). The restaurant downstairs was pleasant and welcoming. Nice simple breakfast.
