Peillon is a medieval village perched on top of a hill, literally at the end of a steep winding road. The village is delightful with great views down the valley so it doesn’t take long to explore it. There are some good walks but the paths are rough and steep so not easy walking, particularly in hot weather. The highlight for us was lunch at Le Plaisirs - a fabulous little restaurant in the village where the food was outstanding and great value. A short stay would be sufficient.

Remarkable village in beautiful scenery, it's a great surprise it's not swarmed with tourists like similar, yet closer to the coast Eze. It's very small and doesn't even have a shop, just one place to stay and two restaurants, but it's atmospheric and not easy to get to (both by car or on feet). The hotel had lots of forest and narrow medevial street walks stemming from it’s center, which made the location special. It was nice and quiet and very comfortable to sleep in the 80s decked out rooms. The receptionist and the waiter were amazing in their service. Found it great that the village was empty, probabilities because it’s so remote. This added a sense of tranquility to the stay.

We discovered the location by pure luck, searching for some more quiet hotels in the area and we did not really knew what to expect. But we were not disappointed: the traditional french small village atmosphere with some italian vibes was just perfect for us, after the busy days spent on the coast.
