The owner was extremely helpful. Couldn't been more helpful. Myself and my friend Richard were walking the Ignatio Camino and the owner was one of these people who go out of their way to help you

Torre Zumeltzegi exceeded my expectations (even more so given the very reasonable price I paid).
The hotel is a beautiful historic building, just a few minutes' walk from the centre of Oñati. My room was tastefully decorated and immaculately clean. The bed was extremely comfortable (I slept like a log) and the shower was great.
The staff at Torre Zumeltzegi were fantastic: I can't praise them highly enough. They were friendly, patient and helpful and I was especially grateful to Iñigo for the kind welcome and all his recommendations.
The hotel offers a good continental-style breakfast and I ate two evening meals in the restaurant, both of which were excellent.

The hotel was ideally located on the edge of Olaberria and very close to Beasain. The nearest train station was only a 15/20 minute walk away in Beasain. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful. The room was a good size and had decent sized bathroom too. Plenty of storage space for clothes & bags. The carpark was a good size always plenty of spaces free. The onsite bar/cafe was good and the food was nice. We didn't venture into Olaberria (in hindsight that was a mistake) but we did go out in then evenings into Beasain which had a lots of little bars serving great Pintxo! All in all a great place to stay for exploring that area of the Basque region.
The location was perfect for a stop on our way South.
The location was perfect for a stop on our way South. The drive through the mountains is very pretty on easy, fast roads. Zumarraga is an industrial town but the hotel is right on the edge in a pretty valley, spoilt slightly by two unattractive apartment blocks next door. The room was large, with a comfortable super king bed. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was excellent, with omelettes cooked to order, freshly squeezed orange juice and good coffee, plus an array of cold choices. The hotel appears to be a family run, traditional Spanish establishment. All the staff we met were extremely helpful and friendly. We did not eat in the restaurant but understand, from our local friends, that it has a great reputation locally. We will certainly stay there again next time we are passing nearby.
The owners of this property are amazing. They are the fourth generation to own this family hotel. They work so hard to make sure all is perfect. We don’t usually have breakfast but we enjoyed it on the terrace with the owners going the extra mile. Rooms are comfy and have been modernised with lovely new bathrooms. It’s a gem.
