We were greeted warmly and our questions answered about the village, parking etc. and provided with a very interesting audio guide to download The hotel is in an excellent location in a beautifully preserved medieval walled village. Fantastic attention to detail was demonstrated throughout the spotlessly clean hotel. Our room was very comfortable with high-quality towels and bedding. From our balcony, we could watch a stork building a nest just a few yards away.

This hotel is located in Cantalejo, a small, sleepy town on the plains north of Segovia. The hotel is basic but very comfortable, and excellent value for money. The view from our room of the town's church was lovely. I don't think the hotel had a restaurant, but there was a little bar serving good coffee, and the owner was super friendly and gave us a map of the town and its amenities when we arrived. If you are in the area for the birdwatching, this is an ideal base.
