When I visited, I found it exceptional. I was welcomed by Carmen whose hotel it is. The hotel is a converted Spanish building in a small village. The rooms are just stunning. Each room is named after a city and she gave me “Paris“. The interior decor is fabulous. Everything you could possibly imagine was there, even including a Jacuzzi. It was early March and cold, but she showed me three separate means of heating the room although I didn’t need any.
This is the real Spain, and ideally you will have to speak some Spanish. I have no Spanish but Carmen has enough English to communicate very adequately. She is Romanian via Italy to Spain and tells me that she designed the whole hotel herself because “I love drawing “. She served me a wonderful breakfast after asking “what would you like?” I suggested fried eggs and bacon And they came beautifully presented. She would have been very happy to provide anything else.
The hotel does not serve dinner - and of course it’s a very small village- but Carmen took me by the arm, sheltering under an umbrella from the rain as we walked a short distance to the local restaurant / pub. Again, I felt embarrassed not speaking Spanish , but I coped and obtained a super pizza and a beer.
Returning to the hotel, I had one of the best night sleep for a long while. You really do feel that you are part of their family.
The village story and location is quite fascinating . There are only about 100 – elderly – residents and declining. The village is traditional Spanish with amazing views out across the plains to the mountains in the distance. It does take some travelling to reach it, but this is its charm. (An idea of how remote it is, is that the five children in the village will soon be taken to main school which is a two hour bus ride away – each way). I found it on Booking.com as I was exploring a route by car from Algeciras through to Barcelona crossing as much country and mountains as I could.

Being on a motorcycle trip, sometimes you take any port in a storm, as it were. We chose El Camino as it was in a convenient spot for our group to meet up that evening. When we found the Hotel, we were all impressed with its location, the tranquility, the value for money, but most af all the host, he's a top chap, was very helpful and great fun. The evening dinner was basic but good, the restaurant was clean and comfortable and the rooms were great. Just a note to other bikers, there is no garage, but the parking is ample and as the Hotel is off the beaten track, we had no concerns.

A very welcome place to stay after cycling through a very strong headwind! Very clean, very welcoming staff and comfortable beds. We slept in the dorm, although there were only 5 people the night we stayed. A great kitchen area and plenty of space to sit and eat or plan the next day. We were able to store our bikes inside in a specific area set aside.
