This 4-star Superior design hotel is situated in Trier’s pedestrian zone, a 5-minute walk from Trier Cathedral. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free internet.

Excellent hotel! Very close to the main city attractions without being in a noisy setting, and apparently there had been some renovation recently. Our suite was wonderful, very comfortable and the terrace just great (it was raining, but in the summer it must be so nice!). The breakfast was very generous and we ate at the hotel’s restaurant once (the food was good, although the waiting time especially for the desserts was very long, but there was a big group, so I think they were having a busy day). The staff was very welcoming and professional. There’s a parking lot just beside the hotel (not private), and it’s rather reasonably priced and the parking spaces are large enough. There’s also a small shop at the hotel and a fitness centre, but we didn’t try it. We had looked at other accommodations for our trip to Trier, but we chose this hotel since it was more centrally located and it seemed modern and clean. And it was! We were very happy and would gladly come back. Highly recommended!

FAQs about hotels in Trier

Roman Roots in Germany's Oldest City

Germany’s oldest city and capital of the Western Roman Empire until the 3rd century, Trier is overflowing with exquisite architecture and Roman ruins such as the Amphitheatre and Porta Nigra gate. The colossal Cathedral Trier is also the oldest of its kind in Germany.

Historic landmarks continue with the 2nd-century Roman bridge that crosses over the Moselle river, which also passes through nearby Luxembourg and France. Cruises along the Moselle start in Koblenz and end in Trier.

Trier was the home of Karl Marx and the 15th-century University of Trier is home to a large student population that often refers to the university as Karl-Marx-University of Trier. His birthplace is now a museum, Karl Marx House.

A wonderful example of the Christmas markets in Germany can be found each year in Trier, at Hauptmarkt Square in front of the cathedral. Make sure you check Booking.com for special deals on hotels during this period.

Trier is an interesting town, however be aware all the facilities & services you might be familiar with & expecting, may not be available. Such as; taxi, Uber, restaurants open outside of regular hours - these may all be an issue, according to what we experienced. Some of this was due to Christmas & New Years limited hours and services. Taxis and Uber-type services are an issue, and appear unreliable.

I love Roman history so Trier was a must-see for me. The main tourist attractions are easily searchable online but the city is small enough to be completely walkable. I was there at the end of November and there were already Christmas markets set up which was fun to walk around - buy the Glühwein (mulled wine) if you're there at that time. You have to eat at Weinstube Zum Domstein! They have traditional Roman food offerings which were delicious. I loved the meal so much, especially sitting in the Roman Basement (Römer Keller) where they have displayed Roman artifacts. Such a cool dining experience.

Trier is quaint and manageable for a small city. Friendly and hospitable locals. There were enough English-speaking workers in various establishments. I enjoyed the walking trails. The city has a lot to offer for Roman history enthusiasts. It has a far reaching and interesting history as a city in its own right.

Trier is a beautiful town with historical buildings and a lot of interesting things to see and do! Everything is close together in walking distance! Nice restaurants with traditional food and friendly service. Lots of shopping options for all wallets and interests. Town maps and signs all over the town are helping to find what you want. Very friendly personnel, always willing to help and excellent communication in english. Rooms were spacious, well cleaned and the badroom was very nice, especially the rain shower! Breakfast was very well taken care of with a lot of choice of products. Location of the hotel is great with a very nice view on Trier and only 5 minutes driving from the center if you want to visit the city or go for dinner. Hotel is also ideally located if you want to go for a hike in the beautiful surroundings of Trier. We highly recommended to book this hotel.

It’s a lovely hotel in a quiet location with amble parking but it is very popular. My single room was adequate, well furnished with an interesting shower arrangement. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant food is excellent but it is busy so book a table early. It’s about 25 minutes walking to Trier itself. The best bit for me was the on site brewery which makes a range of excellent beers that guests can purchase at good prices.

Very central location, so when driving, can just park outside the hotel and check in. Then there is a secure gravel car park that is accessible using an intercom. There was some confusion with the booking.com reservation, but the staff solved this. The hotel is right next door to Porta Nigra. In COVID-19 times there is also a test centre just a few hundred metres from the hotel, which if using the correct App on the door had a short queue.

Friendly reception and staff. They allowed us to store some of our stuff in their fridge. We were able to park onsite for a little extra. Breakfast is optional, but a no-brainer as it is very good with a lot of choice. The hotel is near Porta Negra and from there you walk straight into the city center of Trier. If you take the (a bit steep) walk up to the Maria statue you get a wonderful view over the city which is absolutely worth it.

Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. Breakfast was typical German breakfast and very good. The accomodation has obviously been updated, but we loved the charm of the original hotel. We stayed because over 20 years ago we lived in Trier and enjoyed the half chicken meals, so we appreciated being able to enjoy our dinner at same location this time as tourists. Car park space was also bonus.

Breakfast is exceptional, so are the various hotel restaurants. Very courteous and professional staff, with no exception. Although the city centre is not in walking distance, Trier’s excellent public transit allowed us to get around easily. There’s a bus stop in very close proximity to the hotel; it takes 10-15 minutes to get to the city centre. We happily abstained from using our car.

Located about 20-25 minutes pleasant walk from downtown area. Parking lot is good deal if you can find a spot. We arrived after all spots were taken, so Hotel staff provided a map for parking next to the nearby Youth Hostel which is free at night. We parked there overnight and in the morning got the car before day charges began, and drove back to hotel to take a parking spot.
