Harburg is a charming little town in Bavarian Swabia.

Harburg is a charming little town in Bavarian Swabia. Eventually, the old part of the town is very small, the whole can be walked around easily, literally in 20 minutes. Beautiful, picturesque houses, next to which flows the Wörnitz river with clear water, where swans and wild ducks swim and nest in the surrounding grasses and bushes. On the hill above the town stands the medieval Harburg Castle. Built in the 10-11th century, until recently it was privately owned, but since 2000 it belongs to a cultural foundation whose aim is to preserve the castle as a historical asset in the future. There are lovelly views of the river, the town and its surroundings from the castle. With not very high hills and a picturesque river, the area is a beautiful place for rest, cycling, walks in nature. This small town is located right on the so-called "Romantic Road" and is a short distance from other similar places on this road - Donauwürt and Nördlingen, for example, which are beautiful small towns also and have their past going back centuries.

    What a fantastic location.

What a fantastic location. I am always looking for areas with Castles and historic villages. I picked this hotel because of the price & rating, I go from area to area on the booking.com website until I find something that is close to where I want to be or on the way to where I am going. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I arrived here. Not far from here are also several monasteries as well as the famous "Sissi Schloss". Just walking around the castle and the historic village of Harburg can take up a whole day. A real gem. The Hotel Restaurant Straussen where I stayed had great food.

You’ll get an entire floor for yourself of a house which is by the river. Excellent value for money without compromising on privacy. It has a fully functional kitchen which is very handy if you’re staying a bit longer because there aren’t many restaurants in Harburg and they close early. The host is very friendly and welcoming as well. We stayed only one night as we were in transit and we regretted not having booked it for longer which would have allowed us to enjoy the garden and the view. You’ll enjoy your stay.

We stayed here for my son’s birthday. While the facilities weren’t as up-to-date as most modern hotels, the fact that we were staying in a 12th century castle more than made up for the outdated features. The beds were comfortable, and, even though there was no air conditioning, the breeze through the windows made the temperature comfortable as well. Our dinner at the restaurant was delicious, and breakfast was good as well.

The structure is located in the very center of the village of Harburg, just below the towering castle (where you can climb in a few minutes on foot). The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful, albeit quite standard. Even if we arrived on monday's evening - the hotel's reception is closed the whole day - the structure has an efficient and speedy way to let you get the keys of your room.

Very Nice hotel in the river side. We had a room with a view to the river, which was very nice. Staff was very welcoming and spoke good english. They have a nice balcony over the river to have a beer after a long day. If you need, they store bikes in a closed room. Beautiful view of the castle from the bridge next to the hotel. We loved to stay a night in this little town.

Staying at Schloss Harburg was a real treat! After hours we were able to wander around outside and see the castle with relatively few people around. In fact, we walked down to the city and enjoyed the views of Harburg while walking down the hills. The staff was friendly. We had dinner and breakfast here and both were quite good.

A very comfortable hotel right in the heart of a lovely romantic town. The breakfast buffet could have a wider offer, but it was sufficient and tasty. The staff is very nice and there is a lovely traditional restaurant adjacent with a great selection of meals and beers.
