Barichara is a hidden gem, one of my favorite towns in Colombia! It is a bit difficult to get to (being a 3.5 hour drive from the nearest airport in Bucaramanga), but once you are there is is divine! So clear, well-maintained, safe! There is lots to do, from hiking the Camino Real to various extreme sport excursions (paragliding, canyoning, white water rafting, etc.). But you could also just relax and meander through this charming town which feels like it is from another century. There are so many amazing restaurants, and the service is top-notch. Barichara is a very pretty and safe town small town. There are plenty of restaurants, hotels, and shops but it could use a few more points of interest. ( the paper “factory “ is great) Every person I had contact with was very pleasant, patient,and professional. It is a 100% tourism driven town and they do it right. The Tuc-Tucs are a great way to get around town. Be sure to take in the view from the Mirador. If you walk El Camino Real be sure to stop at “ the juice house !”Phillip Natowich - 10Scored 10

Barichara is a small and very beautiful pueblo style town. You can walk the town in one day but there are several things you can do like taking a 5km walk to guane, learn to make paper, learn to paint with natural soil sediments, go horseback riding and eat delicious foods. The people are nice and courteous, they don't price gouge tourists wrongly. Very scenic and beautiful.

And no matter what problem we had he was always there to help us. He even got us bustickets for our next trip The house is gorgeous. Its very old and charmig but in perfect condition. Our room had always the right temperature without fan because its almost 5m high and it has a traditional roof. There is also a nitendo to play and a nice garden. What we also appreciated wad that ita was a nonsmoking hostal.

We are hikers and it is located along the Camino Real which is an amazing pathway weaving itself along the mountains. Be sure to visit the village of Guane and of course Barrichara along the route of the Camino. We both felt that this was the best stay of our trip to Colombia
