Alain was a fantastically warm host and put lots of love into the breakfast he made. I was blown away with the size of my basement accomodation and quality of ambience etc. Was perfect for my needs for one night. Couldnt recommend it highly enough.

Amazing serene location and the cabin was just fantastic. Surprisingly well equipped, shower facilities were an added bonus. The cabin itself was really warm and cosy, beds were really comfortable, and cleverly laid out. We were travelling as a group of 4.

The location is excellent. A very nice and attentive host. very clean. spa and sauna for a fee, it is helped us a lot because the weather turned bad and we had to change our plans.
Breakfast: fried eggs, potatoes, sausages. yogurt, boiled eggs, bread, jam. there were no vegetables and fruit.
I recommend this auberge.

Did not stay long enough to visit or appreciate the city and its surroundings. Did not visit any attractions. I was in Shawinigan just for sleeping accommodation. My activity was in 3-Rivers but could not find any accommodation closer than Shawinigan (40 min away). Road system to get to Shawinigan is very good and fast.

The City of Energy (Cite d'Energie) is fascinating, especially for the science-inclined. I highly recommend it. Also the St Hubert on Rue Trudel (Rt 351) is a quality, full-service restaurant, not the more typical fast-food establishment. Menu is simular to Swiss Chalet (which owns St H), with some Quebec-specific items (see photo).Guy-OUnited States

The fridge was among the least noisy we've encountered! The staff at the reception desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was a bit overcrowded at the time of our stay so we decided to have breakfast outside (there are several benches and outdoors tables near by with nice views). Ample parking and easy of access from the main road. Several nice walking/biking paths nearby to get you to downtown Shawinigan (around 2 km away).

And my legs appreciated spending time in the spa tub after a day of hiking in beautiful Mauricie National Park!! Alain is a great host, he's hilarious and a great cook, too. Plenty of excellent restaurants in Shawinigan for the evenings. Really a lovely spot to stay for a couple of days!
