The owner was very amicable and made sure we were able to settle in. He was accommodating, letting us do a late check in, and was willing to change some of our reservation when we got there. Once we got there, he also pointed out all the local sights, what activities we could enjoy, and was overall excellent service.

Shenstone Motor Inn and Restaurant is located in Wiarton. This motel has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. Free WiFi and on-site parking are available.
I grew up and lived there. I left the last time 25 years ago and it has deteriorated noticeably since then. Not a great place to visit and I wouldn't want to live there now. Use the by-pass if you can to travel around. If you are hungry, eat in Rockford.

Owen Sound is a lovely community.
Owen Sound is a lovely community. Everyone I encountered was very nice and people chat to you and smile. I am not sure of what there is to do in Owen Sound in January but I went to Harrison Park for a walk and then to Inglis Falls for pictures. There are lots of trails in the area.. As for dining out there are many good restaurants to chose from.

We chose Georgian Bay for a long w/e just because we had read about small vineries around the area in a brochure from LCBO and wanted to taste some wines from here. Two out of three were fully booked, so we ended up at The Roost Wine Co., a family-owned, small (just 5 ha) vinery, where the tasting experience is highly recommended.
So, going back to Owen Sound, we picked it simply because we found this value-for-money motel (Diamond) which we bet on and eventually we have decided it was a good choice all in one. Georgian Bay - as much as we saw of it - is wonderful, not because of its nature and landscapes (esp. beginning of Oct.), but also because its small towns, which have this flavour of an old era and are a joy to discover.
However, reading about the history of Owen Sound on wikipedia, with the piquant & juicy :)) stories of "The Bucket of Blood" and the madam sending her girls (from a brothel) to lure the sailors in; that was delightful itself.

An OK town, Billy Bishop museum is worth a short visit and Inglis Falls offer some nice walking trails ($10 parking). It is at the base of the Bruce Peninsula, allowing for access to a number of lovely spots. We did enjoy Sizzling restaurants in downtown area.

It's a nice little town on the water.
It's a nice little town on the water. We were there for a mid-week funeral so we weren't able to really take advantage of the local attractions. The country-side is very pretty in and around the town and there's lots of local markets to explore.
Have stayed here in the past.Like most post-Covid hotels, could use a bit of updating. That said, if you are looking for a clean room, comfortable bed, decent Tv,wi-fi service, this is for you. Young man on desk pleasant and helpful.Doesn't do breakfast, but close to restaurants.Rooms at front have balconies that overlook the city, but rooms at back are very quiet - no traffic noise. Will certainly stay again.
What a great location! Morning run next to the lake garden followed by breakfast at the hotel patio with the view was amazing. Very nice staff as well. Room with breakfast was not available but when I called to add it Angela was very helpful. She also managed it all with Booking.com.
We were getting late for cruise in the morning so staff packed our breakfasts for to go..
superb service!
I’ve been to other motels and hotels in the area and for the price and the cleanliness of the room I’m unsure why the rating is so low . The front desk gentlemen greeted us with a warm inviting smile . The place was under renovations , and even so the room was unaffected and still a place where you could unwind after a long day of chasing waterfalls x3 near by the hotel
Great little hotel for an even better price. It was a place to sleep at the end of a long day. Very clean and central to so many attractions. We had a mini fridge television microwave and coffee maker. What more does one need? Also we couldn't hear any noise from other rooms it was very quiet.
Breakfast is not included in the stay. The hotel had made significant upgrades since I last stayed there, and I was very comfortable. Everything was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The walking paths around the hotel provided a very nice break at beginning/end of day.
The room was very comfortable. The coffee maker , fridge and the microwave were very nice amenities. It was very quiet and the hotel was close to shopping and sights of interest. The staff was very conscious of Covid-19 protocols and the cleanliness of the room was excellent.
Very clean room as was the hotel itself.
Very comfortable bed with nice, soft sheets.
Nice continental breakfast. Bacon and egg muffins were offered. Tasty!
Very friendly front desk staff; Amy & Matthew were extremely friendly, helpful and professional.
Such a nice place that exceeded our expectations. Let's be honest, there aren't a lot of options in Owen's Sound. This cute, we'll maintained hotel would be a great find anywhere. Clean, comfortable, and cozy... what else could you want?
We really liked pet-friendly policies at our hotel, our dog appreciated it too! After a day on Bruce trail it was amazing to fall asleep in those luxurious Travelodge beds which were so welcoming to our tired feet and other body parts!
Older hotel, but very clean. Nice little kitchenette with a good fridge and even 2 burner stove!
The location is close enough to everything, but set back from the road, and very quiet.
Staff were very pleasant & friendly.
I liked the hotel as it is always quiet at night. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The facilities were closed due to Covid so cant comment on that.I have stayed here before and enjoyed it just the same.
The location is good and the hotel is fairly maintained. We stayed there for one night and just need the basic things like a freeze, microwave oven and a bed to sleep in. So, it was overall fine.
The location is good. In the middle of Owen sound. And in between flower pot island and blue mountain. With complementary breakfast. Staff are really nice.
