This family run place with cosy rooms is located within walking distance from the entrance to Sinharaja National Park. It offers an infinity pool with awesome views, some really sweet and playful dogs, and just in general a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the middle of the jungle. The family offers the following: - The cool Son brings you cold beer, helps and organises cheap local transport and is an amazing guide who helps you spot rainforest life (and get good photos of it), plus make sure you make it home in one piece. - The sweet Mom cooks some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Asking for the spicy option is highly recommended. - The kind Dad takes care of the place and kills any giant spider that may enter your room with a broomstick. Prices are reasonable and upfront in a remote paradise.

The highlight of our stay was undeniably our incredible host, who spared no effort in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Beyond the culinary delights, our room was a sanctuary of comfort and style. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. We stayed 6 days in this wonderful hotel and it was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip in Sri Lanka!!! The hotel is located in front of the beach and guarantees full immersion in the natural frame with the breathtaking view on the sea and at same time with the comfort and services of the luxury hotel. Furthermore, it is close to interesting tourist areas, amazing beaches, restaurants,…The hotel is modern, cosy, furnished with great taste and sense of details, everything is perfectly clean, the swimming pool is amazing, the food is delicious!!! And the kindness and helpfulness of the owners and staff are just outstanding and make you feel being home. THANK YOU for the stay that we will remember as one of our best hotel stays!

You sit on your own balcony surrounded by views of rain forest, mountain tops, birds in all colours. The extremely friendly host family prepares tasty sri lankan food, offer you fruits from their own garden - they have ALL sorts of interesting fruits depending on season. They show you around their tea plantage and all in all just makes you feel good. The cabana (cottage) has all basics and is very clean. This is not luxury, but I personally didn't miss anything. My best recommendations!

Nice place to seat outside in the garden. Nice beach with a bay to swim (which is rare in Midigama) and with a lot of shadow across the street. Perfect place to spend all hot day till sunset. Very nice and helpful hosts. Thank you very much for everything.
