Absolutely beautiful property. Everything from the decor to the comfortable bed to the great shower made it a perfect stay. And the breakfast was delicious. Walnut Lodge is a labour of love for its owners Mike and Mia and you can see how much pride and effort they put into their property. Would recommend it to anybody looking to stay in the Matamata area. It was outstanding.

View was great with green hills in background. It is working farm so you will see Cows and sheep. Room was very clean . We reached late and host told us how to reach Matamata town center for dinner. Breakfast was great, especially oats cereal and cookies!

This was a little gem - we booked it as it was close to Hobbiton without really paying too much attention to the facilities etc. upon arrival we were greeted by Glenn a great host who got us settled in and recommended things to do. Breakfast was superb home cooked and in the fridge just needed a quick blast in the microwave - delicious pancakes and fruit. Yogurt etc and the following fritters with bacon

the place is great! the hosts are also great. this place is made for LOTR fans who are staying in mata-mata in order to go to the Hobbiton movie set tour. simply perfect, even the monopoly game is LOTR themed 😍
