I was originally supposed to only stay one night at Paloma Lodge from 6 Nov to 7 Nov, but because I enjoyed my stay here so much, I decided to extend for 4 more nights, only checking out on 10 Nov instead. Paloma Lodge is very well located, with only about 5 mins’ walk away from Siwan town centre where all the restaurants, cafés and shops are located. Apart from that, it’s only a stone’s throw away from a fresh water spring, where it’s perfect for an early morning or mid-afternoon swim. The host, Captain Nair, is super kind, warm and hospitable! He made me feel very welcomed and because I was a solo female traveller, he would check on me when I’m out later in the evening. In fact, he invited me to dinners at the lodge with lovely meals, either prepared by the good Captain himself, or his lovely housekeeper, Safie! The lodge is very tastefully decorated and kept very clean. The one-room apartment that I stayed in was very cosy and was sufficiently equipped with kitchen appliances, such as; electric kettle, toaster oven and a fridge. I will definitely stay at Paloma Lodge again, when I come back to Siwa!! It was a very enjoyable and cosy homestay which felt like you are with family. A home away from home.

after one month staying in Cairo, I finally got a good sleep. Located 4 km from downtown, the place is quiet, calm with a beautiful garden. Room is fully equipped and comfortable. The stuff are very responsive even during Ramadan and Eid. I would recommend this place to all the travelers.

I'll start with how breakfast was thoughtful and delightful! Definitely worth waking up for, so fresh! They have the most thoughtful and helpful staff and in addition to their own staff, they are well connected with the community. They were able to arrange everything we wanted to do, and typically under a very tight timeline. They also have a lovely little shop that his packed with local delights. I was visiting with family but it was a trip I took with my sister and our children, and notably without any adult male. As a single mom, it is always important to be able to feel safe and secure in new places. Talist hit and exceeded the mark here! Would recommend 100%.

An oasis within an oasis! Al babenshal guest house is such a wonderful surprise. We experienced unparalleled hospitality and instantly felt like home. They greeted us by name everyday and helped us out with everything we needed. Salama, the manager, has been so accommodating with our group’s needs; Jamal and Solomon have been so absolutely wonderful and we will miss them dearly. If you see this, we all say hello! The hotel itself is situated in the center of Siwa, built into the Shali fortress. It subtly blends into the environment as it maintains the traditional exterior of typical Siwa buildings made of salt, mud and palm trees. The interior is updated and comfortable with a simple, minimalist decor that compliments the building without overtaking it, like a true ecological hotel. The labyrinth within takes you to unique rooms and a beautiful rooftop patio that has the perfect view of the fortress. Traditional dinner on the rooftop overlooking the fortress makes a memorable experience! The location is the perfect jumping point to exploring all of what Siwa has to offer. It is in the heart of old town and has everything you need near by within walking distance. The hotel has lots of recommendations and can accommodate a wide range of different needs. Solomon recommended Goma who took us on his tuktuk to the salt lake. He is friendly and attentive and spoke great English, and made sure we had a good time at every turn. It is such an unique experience in Thanks for the perfect stay in our favourite place in Egypt!
