Nelo is an awesome host. He provided me with information on where to eat and where to buy groceries. He even offered to pick me up at the bus stop so I wouldn't have to walk in the rain. The accommodations are very clean, secure, and right on the PR1 trail that leads to the Castillo and the other trails to the schist villages.

A recently renovated property, CASA 3 - OS LUGARES DE CASTRALEUCA is situated in Castelo Branco near St. Michael's Church, Episcopal Palace Gardens and Francisco Tavares Proenca Junior. We liked everything. Arrival was very slick, no check-in just enter the codes provided and enter the apartment. The entrance area and lift were scrupulously clean, tidy and well lit. Our apartment was on the third floor and was an attic conversion. It was very well designed and had absolutely everything you could need. The fridge was well stocked for breakfast the following morning and this was restocked throughout our stay. Fresh bread was left every morning in a bag outside our door. Full marks for a wonderful experience.

Even though it was a little rainy, the hiking nearby was really pretty, and it’s easy to hike or drive to explore a few of the schist villages from Lousã. We’d be thrilled to return!!
