Offering a garden and garden view, Maison Simonenia is situated in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, 11 km from Baigorry Church and 40 km from Epherra Golf Course. The space is beautiful, and our room was immaculate and spacious. It’s right in the middle of town, close to everything. Our hostess was fun and friendly and spoke very good English. She helped us with our Camino questions and feed us a wonderful breakfast. This was a great place to start our Camino.

Hôtel Villa KOEGUI Bayonne has a restaurant, fitness centre, a bar and shared lounge in Bayonne. This property also provides guests with a terrace. We arrived by bike, but the room wasn't ready as we were early. The bikes were securely stored without issue, and given a complimentary drink while we waited. This is a boutique style hotel by the river. All staff were very pleasant and we had an enjoyable stay with a great selection for breakfast. We opted for a better room when booking and this was excellent - large with great sized shower and separate toilet. It was quiet, despite being in the centre of Bayonne, with a small balcony. We were able to enjoy a quiet drink when getting back to the hotel after dinner in the covered outdoor area and enjoyed a great breakfast the following morning. The staff were very attentive, we never had to 'catch someone's eye'.

Set in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and with Baigorry Church reachable within 11 km, Gite de la Porte Saint Jacques: a hostel for pilgrims offers a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a terrace. Just great. Awesome albergue, the energy was very pleasant. It’s very tastefully equipped and clean. It has a nice terace and also a meditation room which is uncommon. The breakfast was tasty and the host is very kind and helpful.

Hotel Santiago is located in Hendaye, just 3 km from the beach, and offers an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant which is open for dinner. Free WiFi access is available. Room design was very nice, easy access for two people. Great location, very nice staff, very informative. Would stay here again..

Just a 10-minute walk from the heart of Bordeaux, a 5-minute walk from a tram stop, with free private parking and free WiFi, Bordeaux Cosy B&B has an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, and a terrace. It was a great B and B you would never guess it was there from the outside. The man we met was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and our room was lovely.

Set 400 metres from the sea front and the beach La Grande Plage in Biarritz, Au Bon Coin offers a bar, lift, terrace and free WiFi throughout. A small intimate hotel in a very quiet area though within a short walk from the beach. Staff extremely attentive and helpful. Especially Jacques. A real gem.

Chateau de Monrecour is located in Périgord Noir region, in the heart of the Dordogne Valley. It offers two heated swimming pools, a large south-facing terrace and a gourmet-style restaurant. The staff and the hotel are just excellent, the grounds and Chateau are amazing. Staff have attention to detail such as they'd put the Air Con on hours before we arrived at our room, with 36c temps, it was awesome to walk into a cool room. The staff were super-friendly & helpful, although it's location means you'd ideally need to drive anywhere (nearest village is not a safe walk on the main road), we've never felt the need to leave the place when using their amazing restaurant. We stayed mainly because of the restaurant, and it didn't disappoint us a 2nd time we've stayed here. We stayed at 8 hotels in 8 nights and this is probably the best, and ironically one of the cheapest - it's such good value. The pool was a perfect temperature too.

Hôtel Le Café de Paris is in central Biarritz, on the pedestrian Place Bellevue and a 5-minute walk from the Halls. All the rooms have panoramic views of the sea. The location, the staff and the overall service were 5 star!
