Located in Edinburgh, 10 km from University of Edinburgh, Melville Castle Hotel provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. This 4-star hotel offers room service, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Guests can make use of a bar.

Our room was amazing, there was a door that led straight outside so you could sit and have morning coffee in the fresh air, looking out onto the woodland in front. The room itself was very big and comfortable. I also like that we had a bathtub. The staff that we met were all very nice. Importantly for us , it is easily reachable by public transport: the number 3 bus goes from Princes Street, over South Bridge, and stops right in front of the property. You can buy a day ticket on the buses in Edinburgh for £5, and this hotel is within that central zone covered by the day pass. Buses go every ten minutes or so during the day, and every half hour later in the evening. About 1km away (in the garden centre) is also a small Waitrose with cafe, which is easily walkable. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fantastic: the food was lovely and the staff were very kind. The bar is also very cozy. We stayed in Dalmahoy just before this and that had a much more country club atmosphere, but this really felt like we were staying in a Scottish Castle: the decor is very dramatic and historic. We loved it.

The location was ideal from the centre of Edinburgh. Easy to get to and from by bus. The room had everything I needed for my trip and staff were very helpful in explaining how to use the facilities and how to access my room via the pub and side door. It was a great touch to have a TV that I could access streaming services. The breakfast was lovely and the setting of the conservatory was beautiful, a very relaxing start to the day.
