Boasting a terrace with ocean views, Dosun B&B is located a 5-minute walk from Jiufen Old Street. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property. The air-conditioned rooms have a flat-screen TV. The room has a nice bed with a headboard to give you something to lean against while watching TV or to give you different back support. The staff were pretty nice helping me getting started on exploring Jiufen. Shower is really spacious and included some nice shower supplies. Breakfast was a nice healthy snack that worked well before going downhill and snacking on more food.

The host is lovely—she gave us many recommendations, ensured we knew what trains to take for our outings, gave us small gifts and goodies, offered to help us get laundry washed, and provided flexibility with check in and check out. All this she did with patience and a smile, even though we could not speak Mandarin and had to rely on translation apps. The location is excellent—walking distance to several buses and trains to nearby Jiufen, Shifen Waterfall, Bitoujiao, Keelung, and other great spots. The room itself is quiet, comfortable, and spacious with great lighting. It seems very clean and modern, with nothing out of date and everything functioning perfectly. It is well-appointed and nicely laid out. Guests have access to water, a refrigerator, a tea kettle, coffee, and fast/consistent WiFi. The toiletries and soaps were luxury, and we took note of the shower gel in particular so we can buy it to take home. This place is exceptional value, easy to book and find, and offered us complete privacy and autonomy. The host provided great communication from our initial booking until we said goodbye. Overall we give this hotel our highest recommendation—it was our favorite hotel of the 4 we stayed in on our visit throughout the island. The next time we come to the Taipei area, we will stay here.

The property is perfect in every way, it’s like stepping into a completely different world. It creates a vibe that you live in the “spirited away” world. The location is super convenient, I walked to the old street in less than 10 minutes and you get to enjoy the quiet little town all by yourself before the tourists get in in the morning and after tourists leave at night. The host is super helpful when you need anything, you can also book day tours and massage to the room with the host. I’m extremely terrified of bugs, because this is in a forest and I was traveling by myself, that was a concern. But I didn’t encounter anything in my two nights of stay.

We had a great experience at the Homestay! Super clean room with comfortable bed and excellent shower. Location is superb. Host and his family were extremely welcoming and excited to tell us about the area even with our lack of Chinese. Breakfast was delicious! Highly recommended!
